Thanks for the memory Dee and a special thanks to Susan Quilty for the wonderful summation of how Sun City evolved. While our history is only 50 years young, those years been filled with awesome stories and rememberances by the pioneers who followed their dream and the Webb employees who changed the course of a nation. Until Sun City was built, retirement meant sitting in a rocking chair or becoming the permanent baby sitters for the grandkids.

At the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum we have it all documented and are slowly piecing it together online. Because we were the first, people think it is old and dated. Nothing could be further from the truth, but the best way to find that out is to see for yourselves. The Museum's website is just one of the many tools you can use get a first hand look at where we are and better yet where we came from.

I came to Arizona in Sept. 1960; my son was 6 weeks old and I can remember diapering him to the tune of "Wake Up and Live in Sun City". After 50 years, I can still recall most of the words ("Don't let retirement get you down; be happy in Sun City, it"s a paradise found").

Althought I don't live in Sun City, I've had many friends over the years who have and were never sorry they moved from their homes in the northeast or northwest to Arizona.
