You need to check what the by-laws call for regarding how they can be changed Katherine. They should be very specific if it need be done by a vote of the residents or simply by the board overseeing them. It is unusual to just make this type of change in that they are changing the terms and conditions they bought under in the first place. I could see the change if they had "grandfathered" those living there.

Good luck, the change sounds very rigid though one does have to wonder how they would ever monitor a "visit."

My mother has lived in a 55+ community for 5 years. They changed their by-laws and are now stating that she can only receive 60 visits from children under the age of 18. This isn't an over night visit, they stated that it didn't matter if the visit was for 1 hour or 24 hours, that she could only have 60 visits in a year. When she moved in, that was not the rule and they tagged it in with the by law that keeps them a 55+ community. I could understand restricting how many nights a child can stay, but just a visit? Is that legal?
