It may be one of New Jersey’s larger active adult communities, but Clearbrook has more of a small-neighborhood, happy-go-lucky feel. It has been in Monroe since 1972, and its residents enjoy its Central New Jersey location, low-maintenance homes, resort-like amenities, and year-round activities.
Here are some important things to know about this established community.
1. Surprisingly Affordable for Middlesex County
As of this writing, 55places.com has 12 homes listed for sale, ranging from $150,000 to $289,500 with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. This part of the state is known for high-priced real estate, but at Clearbrook, you won’t be paying an exorbitant amount for your home.
2. All About the Sports
Golfers are drawn to Clearbrook because it has its own nine-hole golf course that's also open to the public. This 3,000-yard regulation course is perfect for both novices and experienced golfers, and the property also has a practice putting and chipping green, a driving range, and a pro shop. You can sign up for tee times in advance online, and memberships are available.
If you want to switch from golf, you can get your heart rate up at Clearbrook’s bocce ball, pickleball, tennis, and shuffleboard courts. Weather permitting, you can also go for a swim at the sparkling outdoor pool or walk or bike along the community’s trails. The main clubhouse even has its own exercise room; it is a great place to start out your day with a healthy workout.
3. Not One…But Two Clubhouses
Clearbrook’s recently refurbished 25,000-square-foot clubhouse also has a ballroom, a meeting room, crafts studios (for woodworking, ceramics, and sewing), a computer room, a professional television studio, and a private health center. The second clubhouse also acts as a cultural center, with a 1,000-seat auditorium, tennis courts, and a second outdoor pool.
4. More Than 50 Clubs and Activities!
You'll never be at a loss for something to do at Clearbrook. With close to 60 clubs, groups, and classes, there's something for every interest and activity level. If you prefer to relax and chat, you can check out the Art Appreciation Club or the Italian Conversation Club. More active options include Zumba, the Senior Olympics, and tap dancing.
5. Condo, Attached, and Ranch Home Models
Clearbrook has 2,026 resale homes, with a floor plan that can enhance every lifestyle. The four condo models range from 520 to 820 square feet, with one to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The largest model features an open floor plan, with a 20' x 14'-8″ dining/living room.
The four attached models are substantially larger, ranging from 1,420 to 1,720 square feet. They're designed with two floors and offer one or two bedrooms, one-and-a-half or two-and-a-half baths, and one-car garages. All of them have open floor plans and patios, and the Rutledge model has two bedrooms and a den upstairs.
Clearbrook’s detached ranch homes have the most floor plans, with 21 models ranging from 700 to 1,530 square feet. They have carports or garages and one to two bedrooms and bathrooms. Some of Clearbrook’s low-maintenance homes have desirable upgrades like granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, zoned heating, and new carpeting. There is also a homeowners’ association (HOA) that provides for trash pickup, snow removal, and common area maintenance.
6. Everything You Need Is in the Area
You won’t have to drive far to get what you need when you live in Clearbrook. One of NJ’s top hospitals, Penn Medicine Princeton, is less than 10 miles away, and you can get to Newark International Airport in about 45 minutes. Closer to home, there's a wide variety of shops and services, like Stop n’ Shop groceries, Shoprite, CVS, Walgreens, beauty salons, banks, pet stores, clothing stores, you name it. Popular area restaurants include Villa Laura and Faros Greek Cuisine.
Clearbrook is also just 15 minutes from the Freehold Raceway Mall and about an hour or so from Jersey shore towns like Monmouth Beach and Long Branch. Other area attractions include the PNC Bank Center, the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, the Regal Commerce Stadium 18 movie theater in North Brunswick, Rutgers University, and Thompson Park. That last one is a 675-acre county facility with a dog park, sports courts, a performance gazebo, playgrounds, a fishing lake, hiking trails, and an 18-hole disc golf course.
