If you are looking for a 55+ community that still sees the four seasons of the year, you may find Chester County, PA to be the ideal location. Brittany Hills is a well-established age-restricted community located in Chester County’s Avondale.

Residences at Brittany Hills

Built from 2002 to 2007  by Wilkinson Builders on 46 acres of countryside, there are 126 homes located in Brittany Hills. A smaller community than some other active adult communities, homes in Brittany Hills are all spacious single-family homes that range from approximately 1,600 to 3,000 square feet.

Depending on the house, the number of bedrooms vary, each home has two to four bedrooms. These carriage-style homes come with 2.5 to four bathrooms, full basements, nine-foot ceilings, and an attached garage.

When built, these homes were designed to be low maintenance. To cover routine yardwork tasks, residents pay a homeowners’ association (HOA) fee. This fee covers lawn care, snow removal, and trash removal, freeing residents up to enjoy their active adult community lifestyle. Other benefits the HOA covers include amenities’ facilities and common grounds.

Central to the community is Brittany Hills’ large clubhouse. Here residents frequently gather for socialization and fitness either inside or on the clubhouse’s outdoor patio. Interior rooms include: a multi-purpose room, gathering room, catering kitchen, card room, and library. For fitness, the clubhouse has a heated indoor pool and spa, exercise room, lighted tennis court, bocce ball court, and locker rooms to change and keep your possessions in while you’re enjoying the facility.

The indoor pool and spa lets residents work out and relax any time of year.

Another perk to living at Brittany Hills is the engagement with friends and neighbors. There are a number of clubs, activities and classes to be found in this community. These groups cater to a variety of interests and hobbies, either to meet casually or have a friendly competition.

Hobby clubs include cards and games, books, gardening and knitting. Active adults seeking to combine fitness and socialization can look into bocce ball, Pilates, tennis club and exercise classes. There are several other special interest groups and other social gatherings as well.

Local Attractions

Chester County’s location is ideal. Not only do residents enjoy all four seasons and quiet living, the community is not so remote that local and big-city attractions are within reach. Surrounded by restaurants, shopping, wineries and museums, there is plenty to do on and off the property.

Additionally, Philadelphia’s airport is roughly 40 minutes away and downtown Philly is about an hour. Delaware and Maryland are close in proximity too. Additionally, since Avondale is located just about 30 minutes to I-95 (in Delaware), this highway will get residents to anywhere they want to go along the east coast.

Its location also makes this community perfect for both retirees and commuters. Brittany Hills is a great option for homebuyers seeking a smaller, more intimate community. New homes are sold out, but resales are available.

If this is not your cup of tea, but Chester County is your ideal location, you might want to consider Coldstream Crossing or Wildflowers at Hillview as other potential options.
