Despite its proximity to Philadelphia and the Rancocas Creek, the South Jersey town of Delanco doesn’t have a whole lot of active adult communities. This is not necessarily a bad thing since many retirees prefer to live in less developed areas. Keeping this in mind, we wanted to share news of a new 55+ community that has opened here: Crossings at Delanco Station.
Respected builder D.R. Horton broke ground at this Burlington County property earlier this year, and plans call for 105 new single-family homes priced from the high $200s to the mid $300s. Crossings at Delanco Station is located right on Rancocas Creek, across the Delaware River from Philly. Retirees who want to be near a big city—but not too close—can find just what they’re looking for in this beautiful new active adult neighborhood.
All four of this new community’s models offer open floor plans, first-floor living, and covered porches. There's also a homeowners’ association (HOA) in place to ensure low-maintenance living. All of these lovely homes also have generous master suites with master bathrooms with separate sinks. There are also added conveniences and upgrades, such as stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, ceramic bathrooms, designer flooring, and walk-in closets that connect directly to the laundry rooms.
The Arlington offers 1,664 square feet with three to four bedrooms, two to three baths, and an attached two-car garage. The Bristol offers 1,748 square feet with two bedrooms and flex space that can be converted into a third bedroom or den. The Clifton is the second-largest model, at 1,865 square feet with two bedrooms, flex space, and a two-car garage. The community’s biggest floor plan is the Dover, at 1,958 square feet. It has three bedrooms plus flex space, which is perfect for a small office or for when guests come to stay over.
Crossings at Delanco Station is in a park-like, natural setting with several walking trails. There are also bocce ball courts, a gazebo, and horseshoe pits. Although there's no clubhouse on-site, the surrounding area has plenty of fitness centers and other recreational opportunities that fit right into active adult lifestyles. Nearby gyms include JBMFIT, which offers group fitness classes for different age groups, and Riverton Health & Fitness Center. There's no shortage of golf clubs either; homeowners can arrive at Riverton Country Club or Rancocas Golf Club in under 15 minutes.
If running, bicycling, hiking, or kayaking are more your speed, the Rancocas Creek and Rancocas Creek Water Trail are right there to enjoy. The Delanco Recreation Commission also sponsors events, including a summer concert series at the Hawk Island Marina, and nearby Pennington Park has a dog park and community gardens.
When you’d rather be indoors, there are two nearby shopping malls in Cherry Hill and Moorestown. Both of these towns also have movie theaters, and you can also see local productions at the Burlington County Performing Arts Center or at the Ritz. Popular area restaurants include Sweetwater Bar & Grill, Carlucci’s Waterfront, and Iron Hill Brewery, plus countless more at the malls and in nearby towns.
Social types can look over Delanco’s long list of community organizations, and participate in any that pique their interests, like the Women’s Civic Club, Riverfront Historical Society, or the local American Legion Post. There are also several houses of worship in the area.
