Rossmoor is an award-winning 55+ community in Walnut Creek, California. This established active adult community is nationally recognized for its countless world-class amenities and natural beauty as well as its wide selection of reasonably priced homes in California’s Bay Area. Rossmoor is situated in the picturesque 1,800-acre Tice Valley area.


Developed in 1963, this gated active adult community consists of 6,678 homes located within distinct neighborhoods. Residences come in a variety of styles including condos, co-ops, single-family homes, and attached homes. Homes are priced starting in the high $100s and range in size from 600 to just over 2,500 square feet. Typically, homes feature one to three bedrooms, one to three bathrooms, and some homes have garages while others include carports or street parking spaces. About 40 percent of the homes in Rossmoor are garden-style duplex and fourplex homes.

Some neighborhoods within the community also include luxurious single-family homes while the rest of the development contains co-op units and mid to high-rise buildings, which are nestled into the community’s rolling hillsides and lush valley that offer scenic views.


In addition to a wide selection of home designs, homeowners also have an impressive lineup of resort-style amenities and recreational facilities spread throughout multiple clubhouses. Rossmoor has five amenity-filled clubhouses that feature various facilities and activities.

The Creekside Complex offers a media and social building as well as the Creekside Grill, a golf shop, commercial kitchen, and two tennis courts.

The Dollar Clubhouse, which is the former home of the R. Stanley Dollar family, features a library, outdoor pool and patio, picnic area, and horseshoe pits.

The Del Valle Clubhouse includes fitness-related amenities like a dance studio, indoor lap pool, and fitness center, while the Gateway Complex offers more social and hobby rooms for cards, billiards, sewing, ceramics, arts and crafts, lapidary, and woodworking.

There is also an event center, the Hillside Complex, and Waterford amenities that provide additional social spaces and recreational facilities that promote an active and vibrant lifestyle. Some of the outdoor amenities include three swimming pool facilities, ten tennis courts, three lawn bowling greens, a dog park, multiple bocce ball courts and horseshoe pits, picnic areas, and miles of manicured hiking trails. This 55+ community also provides bus transportation and an outpatient medical center, making it convenient for residents to get what they need.

Rossmoor also offers 27 holes of NCGA-rated golf. The 18-hole, par-72 Dollar Ranch golf course, designed by Robert Muir Graves, covers 6,177 yards from its longest tee. Residents who want a shorter golf game will love the 9-hole Creekside Golf Course, which spans 3,088 yards for a par of 36. A driving range and pro shop are available on-site for equipment, lessons, and practice games. With so many amenities and recreational facilities, it’s easy to see why so many active adults live in Rossmoor.


Homeowners stay informed on what’s happening within the community thanks to its weekly newspaper called Rossmoor News or by watching Channel 28, which broadcasts programs happening in the community. Rossmoor also has a huge selection of activities like special events, concerts, classes, and dances. Residents can choose from the community’s 200 clubs and organizations where they can find similar hobbies with neighbors and build lifelong friendships. From camera club and chess to nature association and mystery book club, there is a club or activity for everyone in this 55+ development.
