Florida’s “Nature Coast” is known for its large expanse of unspoiled wilderness. While you can find beaches, the Central Gulf Coast really shines when it comes to the state parks and wildlife preserves, which outdoor enthusiasts adore.

This area also contains plenty of golf courses and golf communities, one of which is the spectacular 55+ community of Timber Pines. It is a gated 55+ community with a long list of its own amenities enjoyed exclusively by its residents.

This fully developed community includes 3,452 single-family and attached homes built from 1982 to 1998 and its longevity is a testament to its successful management. Available on a resale basis, these homes offer tremendous value as well as a low-maintenance lifestyle full of activity. A wide range of floor plans have been built in the community to appeal to any buyer, while four distinct amenity centers are available to all residents. Current home prices start at just shy of $100k and go up to the high $200s.

Many of the community’s golfers and tennis players hang out at the Country Club of the Pines, which offers casual fare as well as fine dining. A 200-seat dining room hosts events while a bar and grill serves lunch and dinner daily, and the kitchen staff even puts together a delicious breakfast and brunch every Sunday.

A large pool and six lighted Har Tru tennis courts can be found outside the Country Club – great for working up an appetite. Over at the Lodge is another pool and spa as well as two hard-surface courts for tennis and pickleball, three bocce ball courts, and four shuffleboard courts.

Inside the building, dances, shows, dinners, and classes take place inside an impressive ballroom. A well-stocked library offers residents a wide variety of books as well as a copy machine and computers. The Resident Activities Center is where homeowners go to get crafty.

This building features a versatile craft room built to accommodate anything from ceramics to quilting, with a woodworking shop offering a fantastic selection of tools for larger projects. The fitness center is also found in the Resident Activities Center, allowing residents to stay healthy and fit on their own or with the guidance of an on-site instructor. For a more relaxed afternoon, homeowners meet their friends at the billiards room, which houses eight professional pool tables.

A Performing Arts Center offers a stage for this community’s many talented individuals. The 570-seat theater sees drama from the Timber Pines Players, song from Timbertones Chorus, and music from the Timber Pines Big Band. The facility also frequently hosts events like arts and crafts shows, charity fashion shows, and banquets.

Recreation and Social Scene

Of course, many buyers choose Timber Pines for its fantastic golf facilities. With three 18-hole courses, a driving range, and 9-hole pitch and putt course, this community meets every golfers’ needs, whether they’re looking for practice, a casual round, or challenging game.

The Highlands putting facility is free to all residents, as are the executive courses, The Hills and The Lakes. Green fees are only required on the championship course, The Grand Pines, though serious golfers will happily pay for access to this 6,303-yard beauty.

Timber Pines residents have plenty of interests besides golf, however. A long list of clubs allows like-minded folks to bond over anything from fishing and bicycling to karaoke and politics. In addition, classes are offered in yoga, ballroom dancing, Spanish, Mahjong, and much more.

Local Attractions

The area surrounding Timber Pines offers everything residents need. Right down the road is a Publix Supermarket as well as a Walmart Supercenter and the Nature Coast Commons shopping mall. The Nature Coast is full of excellent fishing spots and theme parks while the Tampa Bay Area offers all the attractions of the city, such as professional sports teams, museums, and live entertainment.

Buyers looking for fantastic golf courses and a wealth of amenities in a great location should definitely keep an eye on the offerings at Timber Pines in Spring Hill, FL. This gated active adult community shows no signs of slowing down.
