Summerset in Brentwood is a beautiful 55+ community that boasts plenty of amenities, including four different clubhouses.

California has long been a sought-after destination for active adults. Between the great weather, miles of beaches, countless attractions, and a high quality of life it’s no wonder why.

While many might think of Southern California immediately, the Bay Area is making its own case as a spot for those 55 and over. One of the most popular age-restricted communities in Northern California is Summerset in Brentwood. Opened in 1994, the community includes homes from several builders, including Del Webb. Homes in the community are split into four neighborhoods with 37 different floor plans between them. The neighborhoods are aptly named Summerset 1, Summerset Palms, Summerset Vista, and Summerset 4. 

Summerset 1 includes 471 homes ranging in size from 964 to 2,311 square feet of living space. They include two to four bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half bathrooms, and one to three-car garages. The 14 different floor plans represent a wide range of options, whether you’re looking to downsize or for more space.

Summerset Palms and Summerset Vista both include the same home models with 431 and 464 homes in each, respectively. They run from 964 to 2,652 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half bathrooms, and one to three-car garages. 

Summerset 4 includes the largest collection of homes in the community with square footage starting at 1,253 and going up to 2,571. They include two bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half bathrooms, and two to three-car garages. 

Community Amenities

Each neighborhood in Summerset includes their own set of amenities available and managed by its individual homeowners’ association. Residents are permitted to use the amenities provided in their neighborhood.

Every neighborhood has its own clubhouse that includes a fitness center, aerobics and dance studio, ballroom, library, and billiards room. Outside of each clubhouse is a pool and spa surrounded by a patio with lounge chairs. Found throughout the community are six tennis courts, two bocce ball courts, and several green spaces. 

The one shared amenity between every neighborhood is Brentwood Golf Club, which includes three Ted Robinson designed courses comprising of 27 holes of championship golf. The course weaves throughout the community giving homeowners a scenic view from their backyards. The club is regularly considered the best in the area and also includes a driving range and practice area.

Social Opportunities

With so many amenities and homeowners comes a bustling, active lifestyle. Summerset has an extensive list of clubs, groups, classes, and events. Staying active is easy with aerobics classes, walking club, yoga, Zumba, and Pilates. Several groups meet for games like bridge, bunco, hearts, and poker. Sports leagues and clubs include bowling, golf, Nine Tee’s Club, and bocce. If you’re looking to take up a new hobby or connect with others over a lifelong passion there’s quilt club, music club, ceramics, crafts club, fine arts club, and R.V. club, among others. 

Attractions

Summerset’s location provides residents with necessities near their home and big city entertainment just an hour away. Near the community, homeowners will find stores like Target and Home Depot as well as a movie theater and grocery stores. Homeowners also flock to the Brentwood Farmers Market, held every Sunday morning from March into November.

Just 50 miles west is San Francisco and Oakland. There, residents will find world-class dining, theater, shopping, and Pacific Ocean beaches. Whether you want to stroll Pier 39, picnic in Golden Gate Park, or enjoy the tastes of Chinatown, a day in the Bay Area offers something for everyone. Sacramento is also just an hour north of the community and offers expansive shopping and dining options.
