The wait is nearly over, and sales are about to begin at the highly anticipated 55+ community of Cresswind Lakewood Ranch. Kolter Homes expects 10 model homes will be ready in October, and potential buyers can take a tour and talk to the sales office about financing, finishes, and move-in dates. The first sales will be launched during the annual Lakewood Ranch Tour of Homes, which begins on October 19.
Buyers interested in Sarasota real estate or properties in active adult communities on the Gulf Coast of Florida are attracted to the area because it’s particularly well-known for its amenities, sense of community, and excellent location.
Cresswind Lakewood Ranch: A Preview
Cresswind Lakewood Ranch is part of the Lakewood Ranch master-planned community. The neighborhood has been growing over the last 25 years and Cresswind, designed specifically for active adults, will be the latest development. Kolter plans 648 single-family homes starting in the low $300s. The Cresswind brand is well-known throughout Florida. Sister properties include Cresswind at Victoria Gardens in DeLand, and Cresswind at PGA Village Verano in Port St. Lucie.
The amenities at Cresswind Lakewood Ranch are going to be especially popular among residents and their guests. A recreational center covering more than five acres is planned, and the clubhouse is also under construction. There will be a fitness center, a yoga studio, a ballroom, and a place for billiards. The demonstration kitchen can be used for parties and social gatherings, and the community will also have an art studio, a resort-style pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and bocce courts. With an outdoor patio, event lawn, and a number of walking and biking trails, staying outside in the warm Florida weather will be easy.
A full-time lifestyle director will be on-site to help with organizing events, trips, and club meetings. Interested buyers can learn more about the expected completion dates for these amenities in October when the sales center officially opens.

The Area: Living in Sarasota/Bradenton
The Lakewood Ranch master-planned community has long enjoyed a desirable location right off Interstate 75, close to Sarasota and Bradenton. It’s a short drive to reach Tampa to the north and cities such as Venice, Fort Myers, and Naples to the south. Cresswind residents will be delighted with the ease of finding things like grocery stores, pharmacies, retailers, and hospitals in the immediate vicinity. There’s a Publix grocery store and a Walmart Supercenter right inside of Lakewood Ranch. Also, The Mall at University Town Center is a 10-minute drive from the community.
Buyers who want to be close to the beach are in luck. Two of the prettiest beaches in the Sarasota area are close by. Siesta Key has plenty of free parking, quartz-crystal sand, and some of the calmest beach waters on the Gulf. Snorkelers can be found looking for fish, and when the sun gets to be too much, there are shops, cafes, and restaurants just off the shore in Siesta Key Village.
A quiet barrier island that provides excellent fishing and beachcombing, Longboat Key is between Bradenton and Sarasota. But these won’t be your only two beaches when you move into Cresswind Lakewood Ranch; the area is covered with well-known and not-yet-discovered patches of coastline that attract swimmers, kayakers, and seashells collectors.
There’s also plenty of golf in the area. Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club is in the neighborhood, and there’s also Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton. For good food, residents will enjoy Speaks Clam Bar and The Grove in Lakewood Ranch.
Sarasota is full of art and culture. The Ringling and its huge collection of art is close to Lakewood Ranch as well as Historic Spanish Point, a tribute to art, early settlers, and environmental conservation. The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton is also fun to visit, and The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg is less than an hour away.
