The Myrtle Beach Area will be getting a new Del Webb 55+ community.

The Myrtle Beach area will be getting a new Del Webb 55+ community.

A new active adult community is coming to the popular Myrtle Beach area next year. Called Del Webb at Grand Dunes Myrtle Beach, this 55+ neighborhood will be located within the Grande Dunes master-planned community. Developer LStar Ventures will build 113 waterfront and custom lofts along the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), while homebuilder Del Webb will build 524 single-family homes, giving the community a total of 637 homesites. This will be Del Webb’s first active adult community in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The first phase is expected to grand open in February of 2018.

The ICW tract within the Grand Dunes development will be built in partnership with LStar Ventures and Del Webb. The tract is located along the intersection of Highway 17 North and 62nd Avenue North, placing residents in walking distance to a dog park and recreation center as well as one mile from the 126-slip Grande Dunes Marina, Grande Dunes Marketplace, and Grand Strand Medical Center. “Bringing the innovation and appeal of the Del Webb lifestyle into the thriving Grande Dunes master-plan vision makes this a perfect fit for both companies,” said Steven Vining, Managing Partner/General Counsel, LStar Ventures.

The partnership between Del Webb and LStar Ventures signifies a new vision into the growing Myrtle Beach market as well as for the expansion of Grande Dunes. “Grande Dunes is a resort destination community providing its residents with first-class amenities and a quality of life that is second to none in the Myrtle Beach market. The attractive location is a major draw for Baby Boomers who want a retirement location with an exceptional quality of life and endless activities," stated Charlie Tipton, Coastal Carolinas division president of PulteGroup, which builds under the Del Webb brand.

Tipton also stated in a press release, "We believe that there are many Boomers who have long vacationed here with their families and are attracted to the extensive recreation, entertainment options, and youthfulness of the town. We expect many of those longtime vacationers to buy their retirement or pre-retirement home at Del Webb at Grande Dunes." Del Webb at Grand Dunes Myrtle Beach will be situated on the ocean side of Grand Dunes.

The new 55+ community will feature a 15,000-square-foot ICW-facing clubhouse with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and tennis, bocce, and pickleball courts. A full-time lifestyle director, who will help plan and organize activities, outings, clubs, and events, will also be available at Del Webb at Grand Dunes Myrtle Beach.

In addition to the amenities in the age-restricted neighborhood, residents will also have access to the amenities found within the master-planned development of Grand Dunes, including walking and biking trails, a state-of-the-art tennis club, two golf courses, and a marina. Del Webb Grand Dunes Myrtle Beach will be the only Del Webb community in the country to include beach club access as part of its base homeowners’ association dues.
