These Long Island communities make it easy to retire in luxury.

The Long Island region is synonymous with luxurious living, and one reason why is because the Hamptons call it home. Certain parts of Long Island have a reputation for being a playground for the rich and famous, but there are 48 active adult communities that offer low-key, sophisticated lifestyles. If you’re not familiar with it, Long Island is part of New York State and consists of two counties, Nassau, and Suffolk. Though it is known far and wide for its pristine beaches, Long Island has year-round activities and events for active adults and their families. There are six racetracks and casinos, like Belmont Park horse-racing track and Elmont and Resort World Casino in Jamaica, NY. Museums like the Nassau County Museum of Art and The Long Island Children's Museum offer unique family excursions. There are also around 20 wineries, nine breweries, country clubs, comedy clubs, aquariums, and other museums throughout the island.

Outdoor activities also deserve mention, since Long Island is the 11th longest island in the country and has miles of beaches and marinas for swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, you name it. The West Bank Marina and Yacht Club is an exclusive club on the Patchogue River that offers a clubhouse, floating docks, and special events.
