Griffin, Georgia is just under an hour from Atlanta and offers a scenic setting ideal for a suburban retirement. Griffin is a small city of approximately 24,000 residents, located 40 miles south of Atlanta, in Georgia's Spalding County. The city was incorporated in 1843 and today it features a number of historic sites, including the Griffin Commercial Historic District.

While many of its stately manor homes are no longer standing, Griffin does feature some lovely historic sites, such as the beautiful Bailey-Tebault House. Other Griffin buildings and grounds with historic significance include Hawkes Library, the Sam Bailey Building, the Old Medical College Historical Area and the Stonewall Confederate Cemetery. Visitors can learn more about the area's history with a trip to the Griffin Spalding Historical Society and the Griffin Museum.

Active adults who want to settle in the Atlanta area often come to Griffin to live at Sun City Peachtree. This impressive Del Webb community welcomes residents aged 55 or better with an exciting line-up of social activities and resort-style amenities.
It is also the setting for the Canongate Sun City Peachtree Golf Club, which features an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Gary Stephenson. This is a private club, yet members also gain access to all 23 of the Canongate golf courses in the Atlanta area.
