Virginia is home to numerous 55+ communities that attract retirees from across the U.S. More and more active adult developers have also been entering the state, offering their latest home designs along with world-class amenities in prime locations that provide retirees with great attractions and entertainment nearby. If you’re in search of new construction homes, then check out some of these new active adult communities in Virginia.

Chickahominy Falls – Glen Allen, VA

Builder Cornerstone Homes began construction of Chickahominy Falls in 2017 and plans to build just 300 age-restricted, single-family homes upon completion. This 55+ community will feature a charming clubhouse with an event space and outdoor pool as well as a farm house with a fully functional farm that will include areas for beekeeping, bird watching, and pocket gardens.

While floor plans and prices have yet to be finalized, homes will be clustered into small neighborhoods and connected by walking trails. The entire community of Chickahominy Falls has been designed to incorporate the natural preservation of its environment, keeping the river, watersheds, and tree life pristine.

Greenwich Walk – Moseley, VA

This new 55+ community is being developed by builders StyleCraft Homes and HHHunt and will host 350 attached and single-family homes upon completion. Greenwich Walk will feature impressive amenities that will include a clubhouse, fitness center, sauna, open-air pavilion, as well as access to the Terrace Swim & Racquet Club that has numerous recreational and activity spaces.

Buyers can choose from beautiful attached townhomes built by StyleCraft Homes that offer 1,721 to 2,102 square feet of living space. Potential buyers can also choose from single-family homes by HHHunt or StyleCraft Homes that offer 1,940 to 2,212 square feet of living space. All homes feature first-floor master suites with walk-in closets, luxurious fixtures, open layouts, and gourmet kitchens.

Barley Woods – Fredericksburg, VA

Barley Woods is a new age-restricted community in Fredericksburg, VA that will have 124 homes upon completion. This active adult community will host a well-appointed clubhouse that will have a fitness center, gathering room, and indoor fireplace. Residents will be able to enjoy the outdoor amenities which will include a swimming pool, patio, grilling areas, dog park, pocket gardens, and walking trails.

There are two distinct design collections within Barley Woods that homebuyers can choose from that include attached and single-family home options. These homes range in size from 1,717 to 2,182 square feet. All homes feature flexible indoor and outdoor living spaces, formal dining rooms, and expandable great rooms.

Villas at Ashlake – Chesterfield, VA

Villas at Ashlake is a new 55-plus community being built by Epcon Communities in Chesterfield, VA. This close-knit community will have just 82 attached homes that range in size from 1,563 to 1,900 square feet. Homebuyers will love these low-maintenance homes that have two to four bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two or two-and-a-half-car garages.

This active adult community will also provide charming amenities that help keep residents active and social. The proposed clubhouse will offer an exercise room, multi-purpose room, and catering kitchen. Outdoors, residents can enjoy the pool, patio, gardening plots, dog park, gazebo, park space, and walking and biking trails.

Regency at Creekside – Gainesville, VA

This new, upscale 55-plus community in Gainesville, Virginia will consist of 208 single-family homes at build out. Retirees will find a variety of floor plans that range in size from 2,551 to 3,045 square feet and have three or four bedrooms, three or four bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Some of the homes feature master suites on the main floor, open layouts, inviting great rooms, large kitchens, and covered patios.

Regency at Creekside will also provide well-appointed amenities that will keep residents active and social. A proposed 9,200 square-foot clubhouse will feature a fitness center, indoor pool, tavern, and multi-purpose room. Just outside of the clubhouse, homeowners will have access to an outdoor pool, tennis and pickleball courts, a putting green, scenic ponds, and walking and biking trails.

Parkside Village – Glen Allen, VA

Parkside Village in Glen Allen, VA is a beautiful age-restricted community that will have just 118 single-family homes at build out. Homebuyers can choose from low-maintenance designs that range in size from 2,645 to 2,935 square feet and have three bedrooms, two-and-a-half or three bathrooms, and attached two-car garages.

Homes are designed with luxurious features such as walk-in closets, spacious porches, elegant kitchens, and open layouts. Residents will also have plenty of ways to stay active and social in this exciting 55+ community. The community’s walking and biking trails provide the perfect outdoor space for recreation. A scenic pond provides a tranquil place to enjoy the Central Virginia climate. With proximity to Richmond, homeowners will have additional entertainment, shopping, and attractions nearby.

The Villas at Archer Springs – Richmond, VA

Active adults looking for a small age-restricted community offering new construction should check out The Villas at Archer Springs in Richmond, VA. This new active adult community will have just 95 single-family homes, providing residents with a tight-knit atmosphere near city attractions and daily conveniences. Although there is no clubhouse, homeowners enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle with like-minded adults.

The community is within proximity to a local park that is perfect as a natural meeting place for neighbors to mingle. Homebuyers can also choose from five unique floorplans that offer 1,522 to 2,268 square feet and have two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. With first-floor master suites and low-maintenance exteriors, residents will have plenty of time to pursue new hobbies on their own or enjoy the community’s tranquil and natural setting.
