Panama City is becoming a destination for long-term residents. New communities like Watersound Origins makes moving here even easier.

Florida’s Panhandle has a number of gorgeous, natural beaches to be proud of, as well as acres of nature preserves, fine dining and shopping, a growing economy, and good schools. The area’s population has grown nearly 20 percent in the last 10 years, and new residents continue to settle in the area year-round, making it more than a vacation destination. Plus, the average temperature in January is a pleasant 62 degrees.

One thing Panama City had been missing is active adult or low-maintenance communities. Fortunately, that's beginning to change. Latitude Margaritaville Watersound was the first community announced in the area, but development is still a few years off.

In the meantime, an active lifestyle community, Watersound Origins, has been announced with building starting a little sooner. Watersound Origins will feature plenty of great amenities, modern homes, and will be a comfortable and desirable community for active adults.

Properties for Sale

Upon completion, the community will consist of single-family homes built by Romair Homes and Huff Homes, two local Florida builders. The Huff Homes properties will come in nine different models, offering three or four bedrooms and attached two-car garages. Living space starts at 1,750 square feet and goes up to 2,615 square feet. Buyers will enjoy nine-foot ceilings, first-floor master suites, and modern kitchens.

Romair Homes residences are larger, with five floor plans available between 2,278 and 2,948 square feet. These homes have three or four bedrooms, attached two-car garages, and buyers can choose custom upgrades such as high-end appliances, pools, and fireplaces.

Amenities and Lifestyle

Resort-style amenities and low-maintenance lifestyles are available to active adults and their families at Watersound Origins. Homeowners will be able to use the Village Commons, where community members can gather to meet at the clubhouse for activities and events.

There are also plans for a fitness center, Watersound Café, and an outdoor zero-entry heated pool bordered by a patio with comfortable, shaded seating. Davis Love III is designing a 6-hole golf course, and the entire community will be golf-cart friendly, allowing residents to leave their cars at home when they want to get out and about.

The Watersound Beach Club will have discount memberships available to homeowners. Members can access the impressive fitness center, use the day spa, and enjoy eight restaurants as well as bars and cafés. Tennis courts, boat slips, and beach access are provided, increasing the quality of life along the Gulf of Mexico.

Panama City Location

Panama City was hit by Hurricane Michael earlier in the year, but rebuilding efforts have been swift and effective. The 27 miles of white sand beaches are open for swimming, sunning, fishing, and boating. Four fishing piers provide access to the ocean and its lagoon. The city pier is the longest on the Gulf of Mexico, measuring 1,500 feet over the water.

Just a few miles from Watersound Origins is St. Andrew's State Park, where visitors can choose to have fun snorkeling in the clear waters or hiking through the natural forest. There’s plenty of dining and entertainment in Panama Beach as well, and visitors and residents alike enjoy participating in the area’s annual festivals, including Oktoberfest, Mardi Gras, the Sand Jam, and the summer concert series.

Panama City is just two hours from Florida’s state capital, Tallahassee. It’s also an easy trip to southern cities like Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana.
