Northern Arizona Communities With Indoor Pools

If swimming is part of your active lifestyle, check out these Northern Arizona communities with indoor pools.

Despite popular belief, Arizona’s climate isn’t warm and dry everywhere at all times. Northern Arizona has proper winters, with heavy snow sometimes closing roads. Also, parts of Northern Arizona are at a very high elevation. The highest point at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon has an elevation of 7,400 feet, and in midwinter, it gets cold. Even Southern Arizona has a winter of sorts, with low daytime temperatures preventing swimming and sunbathing.

The city of Prescott, where many active adult communities are located, is over 5,300 feet above sea level, and it can get snow from November through to April. That’s when you appreciate the benefits of an indoor pool. Communities in Northern Arizona with indoor pools are all in or near Prescott. Its historic downtown is full of old buildings, bars, hotels, restaurants, and art galleries. The city has become quite an artistic community, and it’s a popular travel destination for Arizona residents.

Some people who live in Central Arizona and Southern Arizona have cabins or condos around Prescott, so they can escape the intense summer heat further south. In a typical year, Prescott will be 10-15 degrees cooler than Phoenix, which is 100 miles further south and over 4,000 feet lower in elevation.

For active adults seeking year-round swimming facilities, here are the active lifestyle communities in Northern Arizona with indoor pools.
