For active adults looking to move into Lakewood Ranch, homes are now selling at Cresswind.

Lakewood Ranch is a master-planned community just outside of Sarasota, Florida with a number of 55+ communities as well as neighborhoods without age restrictions. One of the newest and most highly anticipated 55+ communities is Cresswind at Lakewood Ranch, developed by Kolter Homes.

The good news for active adults looking to move into Lakewood Ranch is that homes are now selling at Cresswind. There are 10 models currently available for viewing and a total of 19 models that can be chosen for a new construction home. Tours for potential buyers began on October 18, 2019, which was also the start of the 22nd Annual Tour of Homes in the Lakewood Ranch community.

Sales at Cresswind: What to Buy

By the time construction is complete. Cresswind at Lakewood Ranch will offer 648 single-family homes ranging from 1,515 to 4,424 square feet. Models have between two and four bedrooms alongside features such as pantries in the kitchen, large walk-in closets in the bedrooms, and outdoor space in the back. Buyers can count on attached two-car garages and bonus rooms that can be used as offices, game rooms, or extra bedrooms.

The needs and preferences of active adults defined the layout and design of the Cresswind models. For example, all homes offer single-story living so that stairs are kept to a minimum. Also, beach entry showers provide a downward slope into the shower, which makes entering and exiting safer and more convenient.

Wide streets and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks are also planned for the community. Sidewalks will be ten feet wide on one side of the road and six feet wide on the other side. This will encourage activity among residents, whether it’s walking, jogging, or biking. Other amenities will also appeal to 55+ buyers who want a home in a Florida retirement community that allows them to be physically and socially active.

Construction has begun on a 13,000-square-foot clubhouse which will be part of a recreational center that covers over five acres. It will include a fitness center and a yoga studio as well as a billiards room, a ballroom, an art studio, and a demonstration kitchen. Outside, residents will have the opportunity to relax around a resort-style pool or play some pickleball, tennis, or bocce ball. An on-site lifestyle director will help residents form clubs, plan activities, and join events.

Additional 55+ Communities in Lakewood Ranch

More than 11,000 people live in Lakewood Ranch, and the community has been growing for 25 years. In addition to the residential neighborhoods, it has shopping centers, bank branches, restaurants, and a ton of recreational and social gathering spots.

Del Webb Lakewood Ranch is another 55+ community, and it offers new and resale homes in single-family and attached villa models. There are 1,300 properties ranging from 1,289 to 2,634 square feet with two to five bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Residents get together for movie nights, potluck dinners, and card games. There are lectures, themed dinners, and day trips into Sarasota and other surrounding cities.

For buyers who prefer multi-generational living, there are additional options within the Lakewood Ranch community. Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch is a collection of new and resale single-family homes without age restrictions. The 18-hole golf course makes this an ideal community for people seeking Lakewood Ranch homes for sale with golfing available. There are also polo fields, a resistance pool, and a list of activities to enjoy in the clubhouse.

Indigo is another Lakewood Ranch community for all ages, and it’s a bit smaller than some of the other neighborhoods. There are only 453 new and resale single-family homes, but buyers have a lot of choices. With 15 floor plans to consider, residents can live in a cozy two-bedroom home with 1,407 square feet or choose a spacious 2,980 square-foot home with four bedrooms and an attached three-car garage.

One of the newest communities to arrive at Lakewood Ranch is Lakewood National, which will be built around 36 holes of golf on a course designed by Arnold Palmer. Two clubhouses, a huge fitness center, and a natural outdoor lagoon will be some of the largest selling points in this community. It’s not age-restricted, but it's perfect for active adults who want resort-style amenities and lifestyle options.
