Completed in 2005, Solera is a beautiful active adult community set in Chandler, Arizona, just 30 miles southeast of Phoenix. Although Solera is smaller than many Phoenix area 55+ communities, it offers plenty of social and recreational amenities to support an active adult lifestyle.
The Solera community was built by Del Webb, between 2001 and 2005, and specifically designed to meet the needs of active adults 55+. The community includes 1,149 single-family homes in a range of styles and sizes, as well as an array of classes, clubs, parties, and other community activities.
At the heart of Solera, the clubhouse and amenity complex encourages residents to gather with friends and take part in the community's various activities. The inviting clubhouse lobby has plenty of space for socializing, including comfortable chairs, tables, and a cozy conversation area. There is also a meeting room and a large ballroom for community events.
Additional community amenities include a versatile card and game room, a spacious billiards hall, an open computer center, and a cozy library. The arts and crafts room accommodates a number of hobbies and also features a ceramics studio. In the state-of-the-art fitness center, residents can make use of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, or take a fitness class in the separate aerobics and dance studio.
Outdoors, Solera's recreations continue with two swimming pools and a covered outdoor patio. Walking and biking trails are spread throughout the community, while sports courts support tennis, pickleball, bocce, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. Resident golfers can also enjoy discounted rates at the nearby 18-hole Lone Tree Golf Course, and all residents can dine at The Grille at Lone Tree.
Single-family homes in Solera were built between 2001 and 2005 in ten different floor plans, ranging from 1,151 to 2,421 square feet. Homes throughout the community include two or three bedrooms, two or three bathrooms, and two- to three-car garages. Many also have separate dens and covered patios for outdoor living.
While there are many differences among the various homes, most designs include eat-in kitchens and spacious great rooms. Larger homes may have formal dining rooms as well. Other desirable features include master bedroom suites with spa-like bathrooms and large walk-in closets. Many homesites also feature lovely golf course or mountain views.
With a full social calendar, a number of special-interest clubs, resort-style amenities, and thoughtfully designed single-family homes, it is easy to see why Solera has become a popular choice for many active adult retirees.
