In 1960, Sun City Arizona started the active adult trend with countless amenities and a fun lifestyle.

Opened in 1960, Sun City Arizona has the distinction of being the country’s first 55+ active adult community. This Arizona development was designed by Del Webb as an ideal retirement destination where active adults could enjoy resort-style amenities and low-maintenance homes. The community has since expanded to include more than 26,000 homes, 11 golf courses and numerous amenity centers.

Today, Sun City welcomes active adult homebuyers aged 55 or better with an extensive variety of homes, which are now available on a resale basis.

These diverse homes were built between 1960 and 1978 in over 100 floor plans including condos, attached homes and detached single-family designs. Many homes have been remodeled over the years to include more modern design elements such as open kitchens and spacious master bedroom suites, as well as upgraded appliances and home systems.

With over 26,000 residences in the community, Sun City has homes which appeal to homebuyers with nearly any budget. Additional benefits include homes with mature landscaping, low property taxes, and a prime location near retail centers and major highways. Walking and biking trails make it easy for residents to explore the community, and many residents also use golf carts to travel to the various amenity centers.

Residents can book time on the racquetball or handball courts, or enjoy friendly competition at two bowling alleys.

Outdoors, the amenities continue with sports courts for activities like tennis, pickleball, bocce ball, and shuffleboard.
