Sun City Mesquite Adds Natural Gas and New Models

Sun City Mesquite in Mesquite, Nevada now has new home models powered by natural gas.

The third-largest Del Webb community in Nevada, Sun City Mesquite, has been under construction since 2007 with plans for 3,750 single-family homes. The 55+ community continues to introduce new innovations. Not only has Sun City Mesquite announced three new home models, but these homes will be the first residences in Mesquite to be powered by natural gas.

Natural Gas in Mesquite

Over the last few years, the city of Mesquite has carefully laid plans to bring natural gas to its community. In May 2018, the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) allowed Southwest Gas to extend its natural gas service to Mesquite, which is located about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. In February 2019, a local business called Danielle’s Chocolates and Popcorn became the first Mesquite company to switch to natural gas.

At the same time, Sun City Mesquite planned to begin building new homes within the community’s Tortoise Mountain neighborhood. These new single-family homes, available in three models, will be the first residential homes to receive natural gas in Sun City Mesquite as well as the entire city.

The addition of natural gas to Mesquite, one of Nevada’s fastest-growing cities, indicates a new era of economic opportunity in the area. While the continuous expansion of the city created the need for natural gas, the new natural gas service will continue to create opportunities for growth and development across the city.

Sun City Mesquite Homes

Now equipped with natural gas, Sun City Mesquite will power its newest homes with this desirable energy source. The new opportunity for natural gas will affect many of the future homes in the Sun City Mesquite development.

“The existing finished homes, and homes yet to be built in existing neighborhoods already started within Sun City Mesquite, are all-electric and will not have the option to convert to natural gas. The remainder of new homes to be released going forward will have natural gas,” explained partner agent Lila Williams.

The new innovation with natural gas has created more diverse opportunities within Sun City Mesquite real estate. Interested homeowners now have an opportunity to find brand new single-family homes powered by natural gas as well as resale single-family homes with electric power.

“Since the news was announced, the reaction has been very positive for those prospective homeowners who prefer to cook and heat their homes with gas. The current homes are very energy efficient, and the power costs are very low through Overton Power,” said Lila.

Three New Home Models

The three new home models at Sun City Mesquite that will feature natural gas are called Canyon, Pine Spring, and Overlook. These single-family homes will range from 1,285 to 1,420 square feet with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages.

In addition to natural gas, these one-level floor plans will feature spacious open-concept layouts, gourmet eat-in kitchens, owner’s suites with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets, and covered patios. Additional luxury features in some homes will include flex spaces, dens, guest suites, and extended garages. Builder Del Webb offers a range of personalization options so that buyers can customize their homes to best suit their needs and preferences.

World-Class Amenities

Sun City Mesquite now offers active adults an opportunity to enjoy sought-after Del Webb floor plans powered by natural gas, but this age-restricted community also provides a world-class lineup of amenities and lifestyle options.

Surrounded by scenic mesas and desert scenery, the amenities at Sun City Mesquite center around the 30,000-square-foot Pioneer Center Clubhouse. The clubhouse consists of a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor lap pool and spa, an indoor walking track, an aerobics studio, a coffee bar, a library, as well as rooms for hobbies, games, arts, crafts, and billiards.

The multipurpose gathering spaces host many of the community’s activities, clubs, and classes. The full social calendar of activities includes popular offerings such as woodworking, pottery, line dancing, poetry club, cards, jazzercise, calligraphy, and singles club. Residents can also participate in regular events such as ice cream socials, luaus, comedy shows, Oktoberfest, themed parties, garage sales, and brunches.

The outdoor amenities include a resort-style pool, two spas, an 18-hole putting course, walking and biking trails, and athletic courts for tennis, pickleball, bocce ball, and basketball. Residents can also enjoy discounted rates at the adjacent Conestoga Golf Club.
