Once again, On Top of the World is on top of this list.

After announcing our 50 best-selling and the 100 most popular active adult communities of 2019, homebuyers had a chance to see which communities buyers flocked to most over the last year. In addition to these extensive lists, we’re still keeping track of which communities sell the best every month.

We reviewed sales made through between May 1 and May 31, 2019, in order to calculate the 10 best-selling active adult communities of May. Keep reading to discover which communities buyers chose most last month, including some newer communities that continue to gain popularity with active adult homebuyers.

1. On Top of the World - Ocala, FL

Below $100k - Low $400s

In May, On Top of the World regained its spot as the best-selling 55+ community of the month, and there’s a good reason why. This gated 55+ community has the largest selection of single-family and attached homes available for active adults looking for new and resale homes for sale in Ocala, Florida.

There are dozens of floor plans that range from 1,092 to 3,039 square feet, which means that residents can find the home that best suits their needs and preferences.

2. Sun City Texas - Georgetown, TX

High $100s - Low $1Ms

Sun City Texas is the biggest and best-selling community in the Lone Star State.

Jumping from No. 6 last month to No. 2 this month, Sun City Texas in Georgetown offers a retirement retreat in Texas Hill Country.

This Del Webb 55+ community features an abundance of resort-style amenities, such as the 86,000 square-foot Village Center and Amenity Complex, three 18-hole championship golf courses, and nine miles of walking and biking trails. Some of the more unique additions include two indoor walking tracks, three indoor pools, and a fishing lake.

3. Pelican Preserve - Fort Myers, FL

Mid $100s - High $500s

The master-planned Pelican Preserve development might be new to the best-selling communities list, but it further shows that many homebuyers are making their dreams of a Florida retirement a reality.

The luxury amenities in this 55+ community feature the 70,000-square-foot Plaza Del Sol clubhouse, 27-hole championship golf course, 38-acre nature preserve and boardwalk, and a sand beach. On-site eateries include Destinations Restaurant, Spoonbills Restaurant, and Flip Flops Juice Bar.

4. Tree Tops - Lancaster, SC

High $200s - High $400s

The best-selling 55+ community in the Fort Mill-Charlotte area of South Carolina is Tree Tops in Lancaster, a new 55+ community that plans to include 799 single-family homes upon completion.

The home models range from 1,436 to 3,619 square feet and can include one or two stories, although most homes offer first-floor master suites for one-level living. Planned amenities include a clubhouse, village center, resort-style outdoor pool and spa, and an outdoor amphitheater.

5. Sun City Festival - Buckeye, AZ

It wouldn't be a best-selling list without a few Sun City communities.

With resort-style amenities and a Phoenix-area location, homebuyers are finding a lot to love about Sun City Festivall in Buckeye, Arizona.

This 45+ community boasts plenty of desirable features and provides the opportunity for residents to enjoy their Arizona retirement. One of the best amenities might just be the 31,000 square-foot Sage Recreation Center, which features an ASU Lifelong Learning Academy, computer lab, state-of-the-art fitness center, and resort-style outdoor pools.

6. Del Webb Ponte Vedra - Ponte Vedra, FL

Mid $200s - High $500s

The ideal location of  Del Webb Ponte Vedra puts residents less than 20 minutes from several Atlantic Coast beaches and about 30 minutes from Jacksonville and St. Augustine.

While there’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area, this gated 55+ community offers an abundance of high-quality amenities as well. The 37,800 square-foot Anastasia Club includes a learning lounge, day spa, and cafe, while some of the more unique amenities may be the sundeck, zip line, and barbecue pavilion.

7. Trilogy at Glen Ivy - Corona, CA

Low $400s - High $700s

While many active adults choose to retire in the Inland Empire, the area’s current best-selling community is Trilogy at Glen Ivy in Corona. This Shea Homes development includes 1,317 single-family and attached homes with desirable features like dens, covered decks or patios, and open concept floor plans.

The sought-after amenities include the 13,000 square-foot Pacific Crest Lodge, the 15,000-square-foot Blue Water Sports Club, and the Trilogy Golf Club with its own clubhouse, restaurant, and pro shop.

8. Sun City Lincoln Hills - Lincoln, CA

High $300s - Low $1Ms

Sun City Lincoln Hills is one of the more affordable communities in California.

Located in Northern California, Sun City Lincoln Hills in Lincoln boasts scenic surroundings and plenty of outdoor amenities to enjoy them. Some of the luxury amenities include outdoor pools, a 300-seat amphitheater, two 18-hole golf courses, athletic courts, and 27 miles of walking and biking trails.

The single-family and attached homes range from 901 to 3,068 square feet, so residents can choose to downsize or find a more spacious home with everything they need.

9. Holiday City at Berkeley - Toms River, NJ

Below $100k - Low $300s

The largest 55+ community in New Jersey is also currently its best selling. Holiday City at Berkeley in Toms River, located within desirable Ocean County, offers affordable homes for sale and resort-style amenities.

Residents also stay active with a full social calendar of clubs and activities that often take place throughout this 55+ community’s six clubhouses, including line dancing, singles club, chorus, bridge, bingo, and planned outings.

10. Bonterra at Woodforest - Montgomery, TX

Mid $200s - High $300s

Thanks to its convenient location, residents of Bonterra at Woodforest can drive to Downtown Houston in less than one hour and to coastal Galveston in less than two hours. In addition to expansive amenities, this 55+ community offers new and resale homes for sale.

The floor plans range from 1,686 to 2,878 square feet so retirees can find an affordable home without sacrificing on space. Most residences consist of two or three bedrooms plus a den, two to three bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages.
