The best clubhouse of 2019 according to 55places is...

Each year, we comb through the thousands of 55+ and active lifestyle communities across the country to find the best clubhouses and amenities offered to homeowners. This year, we’ve looked through testimonials, data sets, and toured several new communities vying for a chance to get in the top 25.

Factors considered when choosing this list were the number and diversity of amenities, as well as the amount of unique amenities that few other communities offer, lifestyle clubs available and homeowner reviews.

With that said, let’s dive into the 25 best clubhouses of 2019.

1. Laguna Woods Village – Laguna Woods, California

Mid $100s – Mid $1Ms

Laguna Woods Village, one of Southern California’s most affordable communities, is our best clubhouse of 2019. It’s not just its affordability that makes this 12,736-home community so popular, a lot of it is down to its expansive amenity collection that spans seven clubhouses and one community center.

Each clubhouse offers something unique to homeowners. Whether it’s simply a meeting room or a stained glass studio, there’s plenty to do in the community’s amenity centers. Clubhouse One is one of the more traditional active adult clubhouses in the community. It hosts a fitness center, catering kitchen, billiards room, and outdoor amenities like a pool, various sports courts, and a barbecue area.

Clubhouse Two is the golf hub of the community. It has a pro shop, bar and lounge, pool, a 27-hole golf course, putting green, and driving range. Other sports on offer are tennis, shuffleboard, and lawn bowling.

Clubhouse Three and Four focus more on art and creativity. Three is home to an 814-seat theater, multiple conference rooms, dining rooms, and a catering kitchen. Four is known as the Fine Arts Center as it’s home to studios for sewing, stained glass, jewelry, painting, woodworks, and photography, among other hobbies.

Clubhouse Five is one of the smaller amenity centers in the community and acts as a satellite clubhouse. It has an indoor bar, lounge room, billiards, and an outdoor pool. Clubhouse Six focuses more on the outdoors, with plenty of greenspace surrounding a pool and patio.

Clubhouse Seven has similar indoor amenities as Five and Six, but also has 10 tennis courts for players in the community. The final indoor space for amenities in the community is the community center, which has a fitness center, meeting rooms, and a computer lab.

Of course, that’s not all that’s on offer at Laguna Woods Village. The community has its own library, a 9-hole golf course, equestrian facilities, gardening plots, miles of walking trails, R.V. parking, and community transit.

Each town square is themed and includes retail shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and bowling alleys.
