The 55-and-up age group is one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. population, and retirement communities can be found most everywhere. Take New Jersey, for example: It has over 250 flourishing active adult neighborhoods.
Here at 55places.com, we break these states down by region to help home buyers narrow down their choices. Central New Jersey has 101 active adult communities, and is known for its thriving suburbs, proximity to New York City, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City, beaches, forests, and outstanding medical care.
Oh and by the way, Bruce Springsteen was born here, at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch!
Here in the heart of the state you can act like a tourist at landmarks like Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Thompson Park Zoo, or the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park. Driving to beaches like Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Belmar is a piece of cake; so is traveling to the Big Apple via the Staten Island Ferry, car, bus, or train.
Central New Jersey real estate is in high demand for good reason, and our research concurs. We looked at the data for Central New Jersey active adult communities, and here are their top five best-selling 55+ communities from January 1 through June 21, 2019.
