After reviewing sales made through 55places.com between August 1 and August 31, 2019, we determined which active adult communities were best-sellers last month. Please note that this number is drawn from sales made through the website and doesn’t represent overall sales in any given community.
For those who regularly check the best-selling communities, this month’s ranking highlights some active adult communities that recently gained popularity over the summer. While some familiar Florida retirement destinations still made the list, there are also two communities in Nevada and one in the Mid-Atlantic.

1. Sun City Anthem – Henderson, NV

From #2 best-selling in July to #1 best-selling in August, Sun City Anthem near Las Vegas continues to attract active adults who seek a resort-style retirement. The most affordable homes, the attached villas, range from 1,172 to 1,725 square feet and come with exterior home maintenance. The more spacious homes can reach 2,830 square feet.
4. On Top of the World – Ocala, FL

The landscape features outdoor amenities such as four resort-style pools, three 18-hole championship golf courses, nine miles of walking and biking trails, nearly three dozen athletic courts, a dog park, and a fishing lake.
10. Sun City Summerlin – Las Vegas, NV

Built from 1989 to 1999, Sun City Summerlin brought the sought-after Del Webb lifestyle to Las Vegas retirees. This luxury 55+ community boasts amenities such as four clubhouses, three golf courses, three restaurants, and a 312-seat theater.
The vast array of amenities allows for an expansive offering of activities, clubs, and classes. Some of the popular groups include silver foxes, folk dancing, RV club, krafty kritters, and boomer connection. Regular community events include coffee with the board, socials, game tournaments, wine hours, and Oktoberfest.
