After calculating sales made through 55places between February 1 and February 29, we determined which active adult communities sold the most homes last month. Please note that this number is drawn from sales made through the website and doesn't represent overall sales in any given community.
So, which active adult communities sold the most homes in February 2020? The ranking includes five popular communities in Florida as well as communities in Arizona, Texas, Nevada, South Carolina, and New Jersey. Keep reading to discover the best-selling communities of February.
Below $100k - Low $400s
For the second month in a row, On Top of the World in Ocala is the best-selling active adult community on 55places. As the 2019 Community of the Year, this gated 55+ community continues to establish itself as one of the most popular and best-selling communities across the country as well as one of the largest with plans for 10,000 single-family and attached homes upon completion.
The world-class amenities at On Top of the World support an abundance of hobbies, interests, and activities. The community boasts three 18-golf golf courses, several clubhouses, fitness centers, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, restaurants, and dozens of athletic courts for tennis, pickleball, and more. Although Sun City Hilton Head did not appear on last month’s best-selling list, this 50+ community rose through the ranks this month as one of the top-selling active adult communities in the country. Located in Bluffton, South Carolina, just 13 miles west of the world-famous Hilton Head Island, Sun City Hilton Head surrounds residents with world-class beaches and water recreation opportunities.
With plans for 8,200 single-family and attached homes upon completion, this gated Del Webb community offers an extensive lineup of amenities. Aside from the 45-acre town center and amenity complex, the luxury amenities include three 18-hole golf courses, four resort-style outdoor pools, a 17,000-square-foot social hall, a 540-seat performing arts center, several state-of-the-art fitness centers, and restaurants.
With over 200 clubs, interest groups, and activities, residents have ample opportunities to gather with like-minded neighbors and enjoy their hobbies. The offerings include racquetball, community theatre, glass crafters, boat and RV club, and music guild.

Texas Hill Country has long been a popular retirement destination due to the area’s affordable cost of living, warm weather, and vibrant cultural scene. The 55+ lifestyle supported by Sun City Texas provides active adults with another reason to retire in the Lone Star State.
Renowned active adult home builder Del Webb has been constructing Sun City Texas since 1995 with plans for 9,900 single-family and attached homes total. With a wide variety of floor plans available, the homes range from 940 to 3,150 square feet with one to four bedrooms, one to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two- to three-car garages.
With an 86,000-square-foot amenity complex, three 18-hole golf courses, seven indoor and outdoor pools, and nine miles of walking and biking trails, the community offers an abundance of amenities, making it feel like a resort. 4. Solivita - Kissimmee, FL

Located about 35 miles south of Orlando, the gated 55+ Solivita community connects residents to some of the best entertainment options and outdoor recreation opportunities in Central Florida. With world-class amenities and a full-time activities director and lifestyle team, there’s also plenty to do right at home.
As an expansive age-restricted development with plans for 5,900 single-family and attached homes across 4,300 acres, the community allows residents to use golf carts to travel around. The luxury amenities feature the 70,000-square-foot Plaza Del Sol Clubhouse with a state-of-the-art fitness center, a juice bar, a 100-seat movie theater, a restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools and spas, and an indoor walking track. One of the best-selling active adult communities in New Jersey is Holiday City at Berkeley, a well-established 55+ community with 10,636 single-family homes. The location in Ocean County in Southern New Jersey puts residents within 10 miles of the shore, providing access to entertainment, retail, and dining opportunities.
The ranch-style single-family homes range from 757 to 1,852 square feet with one to three bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, and attached one- or two-car garages. Many of the well-maintained homes have open layouts, kitchens with breakfast nooks, master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, sunrooms, and dens.

Del Webb Ponte Vedra is a gated 55+ community located 20 miles south of Jacksonville and minutes from the Atlantic Coast. As part of the award-winning master-planned Nocatee development, this Del Webb community is one of eight communities in the development, which are all connected via walking and biking trails.
With plans for 1,988 single-family, attached, and condominium homes, this age-restricted community offers Del Webb floor plans, its own private amenities, and a range of activities and events. The 37,800-square-foot Anastasia Club features amenities such as an indoor pool and spa, a learning lounge, a cafe, arts and crafts studios, and much more.
The community has also received plenty of positive reviews. As resident Carol S. wrote, “It’s been three years and we still love living in Del Webb [Ponte Vedra]. So far this year, Sun City Anthem has proven to be the best-selling 55+ community in Nevada, an up-and-coming retirement destination known for its dry climate, desert landscapes, and outdoor recreation. Nestled in the foothills of the Black Mountains and 800 feet above the floor of the valley, the community offers sweeping views of the Las Vegas Strip as well as milder temperatures and cleaner air.
As an age-restricted community with 7,144 single-family, attached, and condominium homes, Sun City Anthem offers an abundance of world-class amenities and lifestyle activities. The three clubhouses span more than 130,000 square feet, which include state-of-the-art fitness centers, indoor and outdoor pools and spas, a 300-seat theater, and arts and crafts studios.
The outdoor amenities include three golf courses, walking and biking trails, and athletic courts for tennis, pickleball, and bocce ball. With dozens of activities, clubs, and classes, residents have ample opportunities to gather with neighbors through activities such as softball, gardening, bocce ball, water aerobics, and golf club.
10. Province - Maricopa, AZ
High $100s - High $500s
Active adults looking for affordable homes for sale and recreation opportunities in Maricopa, a town located south of Phoenix, will find an abundance of lifestyle options at Province. Currently under construction by Meritage Homes, this gated 55+ community plans to include 2,217 single-family and attached homes.
Though not as expansive as some of the largest 55+ communities in Arizona, the Province community still offers resort-style amenities and a full social calendar of activities, clubs, and classes. At the 32,000-square-foot clubhouse, residents can find indoor and outdoor pools, a cafe, a ballroom, and studios for arts and crafts, sewing, and ceramics.
