After keeping track of sales made through 55places.com between November 1 and November 30, we determined which active adult communities sold the best last month. Please note that this ranking is drawn from sales made through the website and doesn’t represent overall sales in any given community.
As the end of the year approaches, the best-selling active adult communities of November 2019 show that plenty of active adults have decided to make their dreams of a Florida or South Carolina retirement a reality. But for those looking elsewhere, two communities on the list represent different up-and-coming retirement destinations. Keep reading to browse the best-selling active adult communities of November.
Below $100k - Low $400s
While On Top of the World almost always appears on the best-selling communities list, it earns the top spot this month as the best-selling active adult community of November. As one of the largest 55+ communities in Central Florida, this expansive development offers a sought-after resort-style lifestyle that centers around world-class amenities.
At the recreation center, hobby building, conference center, and two community centers, residents can enjoy an abundance of amenities designed to suit almost every hobby and passion. Some of the notable amenities include state-of-the-art fitness centers, indoor and outdoor pools, a 1,500-seat ballroom, and dozens of athletic courts for tennis, pickleball, and racquetball. The town square at the heart of the community also boasts shops, a continuing education center, and plenty of space for community events and social gatherings.
With plans for 10,000 single-family and attached homes, this gated 55+ community provides a variety of home models, with many properties ideal for downsizing into an affordable Florida retirement. The homes for sale range from approximately 1,092 to 3,039 square feet.

One of the best-selling active adult communities in Southwest Florida is Pelican Preserve, a gated 55+ community with plans for 2,500 single-family, attached, and condominium homes. This golf course community with a 27-hole championship golf course provides residents with an amenity-rich country-club lifestyle.
The sought-after amenities feature the 70,000-square-foot Plaza Del Sol Clubhouse with a state-of-the-art fitness center, a walking track, a pool, a restaurant, a juice bar, a 100-seat movie theater, and much more. The outdoor amenities include a resort-style pool, an outdoor amphitheater, a 38-acre nature preserve, a sand beach, plus much more to explore.

The largest and best-selling active adult community in South Carolina is Sun City Hilton Head, a well-established Del Webb 50+ community near the vacation destination of Hilton Head. This age-restricted community offers both new and resale homes for sale, and plans consist of 8,200 single-family and attached homes upon completion.
Interested homebuyers can browse dozens of floor plans with a range of customization options. The attached homes range from 1,039 to 1,926 square feet with two or three bedrooms with dens, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. The more spacious single-family homes range from about 1,085 to 2,948 square feet with two to four bedrooms with dens, one-and-a-half to four bathrooms, and attached two- to three-car garages.
The amenities feature the 45-acre Town Center and Amenity Complex, the 17,000-square-foot Pinckney Social Hall, the 540-seat Magnolia Performing Arts Center, and three 18-hole golf courses. The community social calendar bursts with social activities, clubs, groups, and classes, which range from craft club and photography to music guild and singles club.

For active adults who want to find their next home in an active lifestyle community in South Carolina, Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick is a sought-after option. This resort-style community plans to include 4,800 single-family, attached, and condominium homes across several neighborhoods upon completion.
The community boasts hundreds of homes for sale, many with desirable golf, lake, or forest views. The condos range from 833 to 1,420 square feet, while the attached homes range from about 1,200 to 2,400 square feet. The spacious single-family homes range from 1,673 to 2,688 square feet.
Some of the popular amenities at Savannah Lakes Village include the 23,000-square-foot recreation center, the indoor and outdoor pools, and the two 18-hole golf courses. Although many people compare Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head to Sun City Hilton Head, this gated 55+ community has a relaxed and laid-back feel all its own.
The amenities at this golf cart-accessible community will feature a Town Center with a Town Square and Bandshell, Last Mango Theatre and Ballroom, Latitude Bar & Chill Restaurant, and Barkaritaville Pet Shop. The resort-style outdoor pool will feature its own poolside bar and sandy beach area.
The home models represent another desirable feature of this age-restricted community, which will include 3,000 single-family homes upon completion. Located in the master-planned Harmony development in the Orlando-Kissimmee area of Central Florida, the up-and-coming The Lakes at Harmony will soon offer another gated 55+ enclave. The ranch-style single-family homes range from 1,397 to 1,907 square feet with two bedrooms with dens, two bathrooms, and attached one- or two-car garages. Many of the one-level homes include open floor plans, front porches, master suites with en-suite bathrooms, and updated kitchens.

With affordable homes for sale, amenities, and a desirable East Long Island location, there’s plenty to explore at Greenwood Village. This gated 55+ community of 512 single-family and attached homes allows residents to live in a location surrounded by daily conveniences and within 90 minutes of New York City.
The single-family and attached homes range from approximately 900 to 1,300 square feet with one to three bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, and attached one-car garages. Many of the updated homes have desirable features such as open floor plans, basements, and sunrooms.
