Big things are coming to the small and charming town of Opelika, Alabama. The Springs of Mill Lakes - a new age-targeted community - will be an upscale development that will cater to Baby Boomers. The community will feature one-level single-family homes with lawn maintenance included in the homeowners' association fee as well as an amenity-rich clubhouse that will be surrounded by plenty of open, green spaces. The Springs of Mill Lakes is slated to open for sales by the end of 2016.
Developer Allen C. Harris of Chapman H LLC broke ground on the 80-acre site in May of this year and plans to offer 133 low-maintenance single-family homes. Two well-known Alabama-based builders, Harris Doyle Homes and Homeworks of Alabama, will construct these beautiful residences. Active adult homebuyers will be able to choose from ten unique floor plans that range in size from approximately 1,800 to 2,500 square feet and will have at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The developer stated in a letter to the planning commission director that these homes will feature flex spaces that can be used as a dining area or den. These homes will also include nine or ten-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, high-end appliances, granite and marble countertops, custom cabinetry, and crown molding finishes. Exterior features of the homes will have brick, stone, and gables of hardie board and patterned cedar shake accents. The spacious homesites will also provide owners with scenic views of the lakes or surrounding natural space. In addition to the 80-acre residential development, there will be an adjacent 45-acre wildlife sanctuary.
The community's natural setting will include two mature lakes, one for recreational activities like paddleboats, kayaking, and canoeing, while the other lake will be stocked for fishing. A wandering creek, waterfall accents, walkways, and nature trails will also meander through the natural wetland of this beautiful neighborhood. Residents will love all of the outdoor green spaces for staying active whether they are on foot, bike, or golf cart.
Construction of the community's spacious clubhouse is also underway. Proposed amenities include a gathering lounge with a fireplace, catering kitchen, fitness center, multi-purpose room, and ballroom. Just outside of the clubhouse, residents will also enjoy rich amenities like a heated swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, and patio with a BBQ area. A pickleball court, putting green, event lawn, dock, and picnic area are also part of the lavish amenities in this active environment.
The Springs of Mill Lakes is being built off of Highway 280 and just north of the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. The community's prime location in Opelika provides great shopping and dining options as well as a lively and historic downtown area. Its proximity to Auburn also provides more big-city entertainment, recreational activities, and cultural attractions that Baby Boomers seek.
Don't miss out on this great opportunity to live in The Springs of Mill Lakes, sure to be a welcoming and socially engaging active lifestyle community in Southern Alabama. .
