The Carolinas have several popular Del Webb communtiies. Here's a closer look.

Both North and South Carolina are highly sought-after retirement destinations for active adults looking to settle down in the southeast — and for good reason. Both states offer residents many perks that range from warm weather and sandy beaches to mid-sized cities and small coastal towns to countless cultural amenities and entertainment options.

Trusted builder Del Webb has nine popular active adult communities within the Carolinas that offer a wide variety of options when it comes to prices, home size, design, and amenities. Here’s a look at the nine communities and what to expect from each:

North Carolina Del Webb Communities

Del Webb at Traditions - Wake Forest

Low $300s - Low $600s

Originally built in 2017, Wake Forest’s Del Webb at Traditions is an age-restricted community that will have 452 single-family homes. Del Webb at Traditions offers homebuyers nine floor plans that range from 1,656 up to 2,536 square-feet of living space. Amenities include an 18,000 square-foot clubhouse, fitness center, aerobics and dance studio, coffee bar, billiards, indoor pool and spa, plus, a catering kitchen.

Outdoor amenities include tennis, pickleball, and bocce ball courts, a community garden, and walking and biking trails. Additionally, residents will find a resort-style outdoor pool and patio, walking and biking trails, and a pet park.

Carolina Arbors - Durham

Low $300s - High $600s

Durham’s Carolina Arbors is a large, age-restricted Del Webb community made up of 1,256 single-family homes that are available as new construction or resale. The community boasts more than a dozen different floor plans that range in size from 1,152 to 2,562 square feet.

Carolina Arbor’s list of amenities is expansive and includes a 37,000 square-foot clubhouse, an indoor heated pool and spa, fitness center, lounge, recreation center, ballroom, library, and a billiards room.

Carolina Gardens - Fuquay-Varina

Low $300s

Carolina Gardens is one of Del Webb’s newest 55+ communities in North Carolina. It will have a total of 800 single-family homes upon competition. Within the community Del Webb plans to offer ten home models that will be ranch-style and feature the latest in technology.

Residents will have access to many amenities once the development is completed, which include a 25,000 square-foot amenity center with a fitness studio, an indoor pool, multipurpose room, and craft room.

Outdoors, there is a pool and sundeck, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a dog park, community garden, event lawn, and walking trails. There will also be a full-time lifestyle director on staff to organize social events and parties for the neighborhood throughout the year.  

Del Webb Wilmington

High $200s - High $500s

Located close to the pristine beaches of Wilmington, the gated, age-restricted of Del Webb Wilmington will feature 547 new single-family homes when it is completed.

The development offers potential homebuyers three home collections to choose from that range from 1,262 square feet all the way up to 2,565 square feet of living space. Floor plans include between two and three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two to two-and-a-half-car garages.

Residents will enjoy several perks while living in the community, which include a clubhouse, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, several athletic courts, an event lawn, and walking and biking trials. 

South Carolina Del Webb Communities

Del Webb at Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach

High $200s - High $400s

Del Webb at Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach is a relatively affordable option when it comes to active adult communities in one of the South’s most sought-after vacation destinations.

The age-restricted development features a mixture of 524 single-family and attached homes that are available as both new construction and resale. There are three home collections that offer high customizable floor plans that range from 1,656 to 2,565 square feet of living space.

The neighborhood's long list of amenities includes access to two clubhouses, indoor and outdoor pools, two golf courses, a fitness center, on-site restaurant and bars, numerous athletic courts, walking and biking trails, plus, parks and natural space. 

Carolina Orchards - Fort Mill

High $200s - Mid $500s

Located less than 30 minutes from Charlotte, in Fort Mill, SC, the gated, age-restricted community of Carolina Orchards is Del Webb’s newest development in the area. Final plans for the neighborhood include a total of 722 single-family homes with price points starting in the high $200s.

There are three home collections to choose from with 11 different floor plans. Sizes range from 1,234 to 2,565 square feet of living space with the options of having between two to three bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and two to two-and-a-half-car garages.

Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center aerobics and dance studio, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a dog park, and gardening plots. 

Del Webb Charleston at Nexton - Summerville

Mid $200s - High $500s

Conveniently located within a short drive of historic Charleston, Del Webb Charleston at Nexton is a new, gated, age-restricted community with final plans that include 1,000 low-maintenance, single-family homes.

The community’s ten floor plan options give potential homebuyers plenty of choices when it comes to the look, feel, and size of their homes. Residences range from 1,262 to 3,810 square feet and can have between two to four bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and two to two-and-a-half bathrooms.

Del Webb Charleston at Nexton’s amenities include a large clubhouse, fitness center, indoor heated pool, a resort-style pool outdoors, tennis and pickleball courts, an event lawn, 50 miles of walking trails, and 2,000 acres of greenspace to enjoy.

The Haven - Bluffton

High $200s - Mid $500s

The Haven is an established Del Webb community that features 500 single-family homes that are available on a resale-only basis.

Homes within the gated, age-restricted community vary in size with options between 1,590 and 3,000 square feet of living space. The ranch-style plans can have between one to four bedrooms, one to three-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached two to three-car garage.

The community’s amenities range from a clubhouse, fitness center, and ballroom, to an internet cafe, outdoor pool and patio, walking and biking trails, and fishing lakes.

Sun City Hilton Head - Bluffton

High $100s - High $800s

Sun City Hilton Head is the largest active adult community in South Carolina with more than  8,000 homes within the property — and plans for more to be built in the future.

Both new and resale homes are available with single-family and attached home options to choose. The community offers dozens of floor plans that range from 1,000 square feet up to 4,000 square feet of living space.
