Active adults on a budget should consider these communities in and around Raleigh for a laid-back retirement.

The Raleigh area is full of active adult communities with varying home prices. Several communities offer spacious million dollar homes with luxurious features, and others offer affordable homes that are ideal for anyone homebuying on a budget while still looking for plenty of amenities in a desirable location.

Then, there are the communities that sit right in the middle as far as price points go—they aren’t the lowest-priced homes in the area or the highest. Instead, they offer potential residents prices around in the $300s with plenty of housing options to choose from and amenities to take advantage of.

Here’s what active adults can get for $300k near Raleigh, North Carolina.

Carolina Arbors

Low $300s - High $600s

Located in the middle of North Carolina’s popular Research Triangle, the age-restricted Carolina Arbors features more than 1,200 single-family homes with prices starting in the low $300s. Originally built by Del Webb in 2013, the development only has resale homes on the market.

More than a dozen floor plans can be found within the community, and they range between 1,152 and 2,562 square feet with two to four bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and two- to two-and-a-half car garages. Some plans even allow for a den. When buyers purchase a home at Carolina Arbors, they can forget about doing any mowing and landscaping; the homeowners’ association takes care of those mundane chores, giving residents more time to enjoy the things that matter most.

Creekside at Bethpage is another age-restricted community situated within the Research Triangle that has prices starting in the low $300s. The neighborhood consists of 650 single-family and attached homes that are available as both new construction or resale.

There are more than a dozen floor plans to choose from. Townhomes range from 1,294 to 1,342 square feet with two to three bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and an attached two-car garage. The ranch-style, single-family homes range from 1,320 to 2,606 square feet with two to three bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and two- to three-car garages.

Beyond the many types of floor plans, Creekside at Bethpage also offers its residents many amenities including a 13,000-square-foot clubhouse, social rooms, an arts and crafts studio, a hobby and game room, billiards, and an amphitheater. Lennar Home’s Fendol Farms community will consist of 500 new single-family homes upon completion. It’s conveniently located less than 30 minutes from Downtown Raleigh and less than 15 from Downtown Durham. The neighborhood features three home collections with eight floor plans that range from 1,551 all the way to 3,619 square feet. Plans can have two to three bedrooms, two to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and two- to three-car garages.
