Retirees often look for their version of the perfect retirement destination based on their wants and needs. Some active adults search for areas that have warmer climates, outdoor recreation, low cost of living, or top-notch medical facilities. But what if you love a night trying your luck in a casino? Check out these places to retire if you love to gamble.

Las Vegas Area

The Las Vegas area is probably the most popular location in the U.S. for gambling and entertainment. The area is also full of active adult communities that are just a short drive away from the famous Strip. Established Del Webb 55+ communities like Sun City Summerlin and Sun City Aliante are both located in Las Vegas and feature resort-style amenities and quality built homes.

Siena is another 55-plus community within the master-planned development of Summerlin in Las Vegas. It offers a great selection of resale homes as well as world-class amenities including an 18-hole golf course.

Just 30 minutes away from Las Vegas is the city of Henderson that also offers a wide selection of active adult communities, one of which is Sun City Anthem. This Del Webb community was developed between 1998 and 2008 and consists of more than 7,000 homes. Sun City Anthem is ideally situated on top of the foothills of the Black Mountains, approximately 800 feet above the valley floor. This gives residents magnificent views of the Las Vegas Strip along with cooler temperatures and a tranquil environment.

Reno Area

Western Nevada’s Reno area is also a great gambling town but on a much smaller scale than Las Vegas. Known as “The Biggest Little City in the World”, Reno provides plenty of entertainment and attractions with a small town “old west” vibe.

The Reno area has a more laid back and quieter atmosphere than the bustling Las Vegas area, which appeals to retirees who want access to casinos and entertainment but without the hustle and bustle of tourists and crowds. Residents in the Reno area are just a short drive away from the lively casinos, resorts, spas, and golf courses in the area.

The Reno area also offers great active adult communities like Sierra Canyon, Regency at Damonte Ranch, and Miners Village that feature world-class amenities, a vibrant social environment, and quality-built homes that come in different sizes, styles, and price points. Homebuyers can find new construction single-family homes in Sierra Canyon or Regency at Damonte Ranch or they can opt for established communities like Miners Village and buy a charming detached home at an affordable price.

Atlantic City

Retirees who wish to stay on the east coast will find a wide selection of active adult communities near New Jersey’s resort town of Atlantic City. Atlantic City is known for its numerous casinos and hotels, miles of beaches along the Atlantic coast, and famous boardwalk. Southern New Jersey’s Atlantic County is a popular retirement destination for Baby Boomers who love a four-season climate, outdoor recreation, and easy access to Atlantic City.

Retirees who love to gamble can take a quick trip from their active adult community such as Four Seasons at Smithville (you can check out their residents site here) to the casinos of Atlantic City in about 23 minutes. Other age-restricted communities in the area include Gatherings at Bel Aire Lakesall of which are within driving distance to the bright lights and entertainment of Atlantic City.
