Dakota Dunes is located in the southeast corner of the state and between the Big Sioux River and the Missouri River. It's home to four distinct seasons with a wide variety of temperature fluctuations, such as freezing winters and hot, humid summers. 

The community is built on rolling hills, with large mountains to the west. There are several nature preserves and desert areas nearby as well.

These are perfect opportunities for active adults looking to go hiking, sightseeing, and exploring new terrains. Golfers will enjoy the Two Rivers Golf Course and Dakota Dunes Golf Course. The community is also 10 minutes from Sioux City’s downtown, where residents can find a lot more amenities and attractions such as Sioux City Public Museum and Sergeant Floyd Monument.
