      In Mission, there are a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities for residents, including 25 city parks, two public pools, and 35 facilities for recreation. The parks offer picnic tables, walking trails, athletic courts, playgrounds, and more. Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park is a 588-acre subtropical woodland perfect for bird watching and wildlife viewing. There are four golf courses in Mission enjoyable for novice and professional golfers. 

      The National Butterfly Center is a 100-acre nature center that houses more than 200 species of butterflies. The nature center hosts events such as the Wild Gardening Festival, Texas Butterfly Festival, and excursion trips. 

      The Mission Historical Museum displays Mission’s history with rotating galleries for art enthusiasts to enjoy.
