Lago Vista is a unique active adult community situated on over 350 acres in southwest suburban Lockport, IL. Built by Hartz Homes, Lago Vista will eventually be home to an estimated 832 residences. These single-family homes and townhomes are surrounded by 22 lakes and ponds as well as miles of scenic paths and bike trails.

The amenities at Lago Vista include a spacious clubhouse, a full-time activities director, and a large variety of organized programs and social clubs. Empty-nesters, retirees and full or part-time workers all call Lago Vista home.

Lago Vista Amenities

The commanding focal point of Lago Vista is Club Lago, the 21,000 square-foot clubhouse that overlooks the lakes and ponds of this community. The main lobby exudes a welcoming feel with its fireplace and player grand piano. There are plenty of ways for relaxing, staying fit, pursuing hobbies, socializing or just having fun. Indoors, relaxing at the sports lounge with billiard, card tables, and large TV is easy. Residents can also pamper themselves at the spa facilities, which include massage therapy and a beautician's services.

The fitness center with aerobics area and indoor pool allows residents to work out in style. They can do so by themselves or join fitness classes, ranging from active aerobics to low impact stretching exercises. Additional indoor amenities include a ping-pong room, arts and crafts studio, meeting rooms, computers, library, and a large banquet room. The banquet room is used for community dances and weekly movie nights. Residents also have the option to rent this room for private parties, showers and more. Outdoors, the superb lineup of amenities continues with a pool, bocce ball courts, horseshoe courts, a picnic pavilion, and a playground for the grandkids. There are also numerous scenic walking and biking trails that meander through the neighborhoods.

Lago Vista Homes & Real Estate

Construction of Lago Vista began in 2004. The developer, Hartz Homes, designed five single-family floor plans and three townhome floor plan models. All single-family residences have one floor and offer between 1,500 to 2,196 square feet of living space. Many single-family homes have sunrooms, some of them have dens and basements are optional.

The attached models come in clusters of three or more and offer between 1,300 and 1,550 square feet of living space. The largest townhome model includes a den. All of the homes at Lago Vista in Lockport have a minimum of two bedrooms, two baths, and two-car garages.

The monthly homeowner's association dues are slightly higher for the attached homes because they include a roof fund, lawn watering and driveway seal coating. Both attached homes and single-family homes include lawn care, landscaping, snow removal and full access to the amenities in the monthly association fee.

Lago Vista Lifestyle

Lago Vista in Lockport is a great neighborhood for empty-nesters as well as active retirees who want to forget about mowing their lawns and shoveling snow. This 55+ community also offers a great lifestyle with resort-type amenities for those who want to remain close to family in the Midwest. Residents are active in a long list of clubs and also like to meet regularly for themed dinners, pool-side concerts, movie nights, craft activities, bingo, card games and more. Lago Vista's full-time activities director makes sure no one ever runs out of things to do.

I am not yet a resident but plan to visit this community in the next week for early 2016 residency. I cared for my wife at home for years as she fought Alzheimer's disease. I now must downsize dramatically from my 4000 sq. ft. home in Arlington Heights where I have been president of our Homeowners Association for 18-years. First of all the first reviewer should return to school, second he should learn how to properly evaluate a home, and thirdly he should learn proper respect for his elders and understand the true indifference of age.

Chuck and I have lived at Lago Vista for a few years now and we love it! The first review on here prompted me to speak up for our friendly community and I'm not sure what the person means by we shouldn't be so "OLD"! We've made a lot of good friends here. We do a rotating monthly dinner party with a great group of people, we always have someone to meet up for coffee or just go for a walk, play some cards or go to the pool. We're happy and content here!

My wife and I just moved in. We downsized after 40+ years in Naperville. We have only been here a week, but the people are friendly, the entire community is great, and we have had little or no issues with the home. We cannot see how anyone could be unhappy living in Lago Vista. Believe me - we have lived in an area with a Homeowners Association and there were old cars in driveways, garbage cans out 24/7, and neighbors who cut their lawn only twice a year. Lago Vista looks like everyone cares about their homes and it shows. We hope to have many great years here.

I have been a resident since 2006. I LOVE this community! The clubhouse is beautiful, and the community is quiet and peaceful. There is always something to do if you choose to join in, or enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of your own back yard!

Very friendly community! Fun activities if you want to participate. My mom loves going to the clubhouse. Very quiet and peaceful. Large models. Lawn care is great and snow removed very quickly.

Lago Vista is a very nice place to live. The residents are very friendly and welcoming and the clubhouse is extremely nice. The floor plans are very open and make the homes feel larger than they actually are. The resale homes may be a better option because of new construction upgrade costs.

I was visiting for a few weeks to help my Mom, I am 51 years old. Some of the residents are very nice and some look at you like what are you doing here? Kind of a mix feeling on this community. In 4 years I could move here, but don't think I would because of that feeling. I feel my Mom's house is not build very good. When the winds hit you feel it in the house, and the windows that come with the home, not strong enough for these winds here. For what she paid for this house and the association fees, people need to be not so OLD and be more welcome like. All in all I have visited nicer communities.

2.0

Just Visiting hit the nail on the head as the construction of these homes (for the price) simply suck! That pretty much also goes for any upgrades you decide to get such as carpeting, appliances, "low E" windows, etc. We replaced all our windows within 3 years of moving in. Also plan on paying approx. $8,000-$9,000 in taxes on a $300K home and $100 monthly water bill. Bet you didn't see that coming! Is Lago a quiet, peaceful community, Yes! Is it worth the cost? You decide. Barry, make sure you give us an update after you actually live here for a year.
