Nebraska Climate and Geography

Nebraska has temperatures that range greatly between summers in the high 80s, and winters as low as 13 degrees on average. With about 80 days of precipitation of rain, snow, sleet and hail, the state of Nebraska has diverse temperatures year round.

Income tax ranges between 2.46 percent and 6.84 percent. Nebraska includes social security income in income tax with the exception of gross income that is less than or equal to $58,000 for married couples or $43,000 for other filers. Nebraskans also pay taxes on IRAs, 410(k)s, and private and public pensions with the exception of railroad retirement benefits which are tax exempt. Homeowners over the age of 65 can expect tax breaks depending on income with homestead exemptions for single filers earning less than $28,200 or married filers earning less than $33,100. 

Health Care in Nebraska

Nebraska has plenty of nationally renowned hospitals including the Nebraska Medicine-Nebraska Medical Center, ranking No. 1 in Nebraska with national ranks and a high performance badge for multiple specialties and procedures. Other high performing medical centers include the Bryan Medical Center, Nebraska Methodist Hospital, and Creighton University Medical Center Bergan Mercy. However, there are over a hundred hospitals available to residents across the state.
