Exploring The Groves at New Kent in Virginia

Here\'s what The Groves at New Kent has to offer interested homebuyers.

The Groves at New Kent is a new active adult community located about half an hour from both Williamsburg and Richmond, affording its homeowners easy access to the best of two cities. This property was originally developed by K. Hovnanian but is being completed by Ryan Homes, and it will have 155 new and resale single-family homes upon completion. Homes are priced from the low $300s to the mid $400s, and that’s a small price to pay for these quality floor plans plus the outstanding community amenities.

Low-Maintenance, Luxury Models

The original K. Hovnanian-built section of this property has 11 models ranging from 1,434 to 3,238 square feet, with two to five bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. They all feature exceptional master suites, chef’s kitchens, and porches. Upgrades include dens, basements, lofts, and recreation rooms.

The four Ryan home models range from 1,338 to 1,696 square feet and offer two to three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. They all have first-floor master suites, and you can choose from options like covered porches, flex rooms, and different layouts. Additional options may include custom cabinets, sunrooms, fireplaces, breakfast bars, and granite countertops. Like most 55+ neighborhoods, The Groves at New Kent also has a homeowners’ association (HOA) in place to provide services like landscaping, common area maintenance, and snow removal.

Amenities at The Groves at New Kent

The Groves at New Kent has its own clubhouse with an exercise room, catering kitchen, and meeting rooms. Homeowners can also become members of The Club at Viniterra; its championship, 18-hole Rees Jones golf course is designed to maximize the use of the course’s natural features such as dramatic elevation changes and a mature forest. There’s also the nearby New Kent Winery, known for its superb collection of wines and calendar of year-round events.

Living in New Kent, Virginia

Since New Kent is so close to two major Virginia cities, living here means a short drive to the state’s top health care providers, universities, shopping, and entertainment. The Groves at New Kent is close to two Food Lion grocery stores, and major chains like Walmart and Target are closer to Richmond. Still, it should not take you longer than 20 minutes to get to the city.

If you like spending time outdoors, you can visit the Cumberland Marsh Preserve, go boating and fishing in the region’s pristine rivers, or look into their cycling trails. There’s also Colonial Downs race track, where the Strawberry Hill horse races take place.
