Golf enthusiasts and nature lovers alike will love living at Verandah in Fort Myers, Florida. This picturesque community was designed with a focus on environmental protection. Its lush grounds, set on the banks of the Orange River, feature scenic walking trails and plenty of outdoor recreations. The community also boasts two world-class 18-hole golf courses.

Opened in 2003, Verandah is open to residents of all ages. Custom and traditional single-family homes, villas and coach homes are being built throughout its 22 neighborhoods, with plans for a total of about 1,700 homes in the community.

Homes in Verandah are being constructed by several respected builders, including Centex Homes, D.R. Horton, Lennar Homes, Arthur Rutenberg, Kolter Homes and Neal Communities. The wide variety of floor plans meets the needs of nearly any homebuyer, with designs ranging from 1,488 to over 5,000 square feet. Select neighborhoods provide maintenance-free living, and comfortably-sized coach homes which may particularly appeal to active adults.

Verandah boasts two 18-hole golf courses, a pro shop, restaurant, lounge, and general store.

Amenities

While many of these diverse homes may appeal to active adults, Verandah’s amenities are an even greater draw. The Verandah community has been designed to maintain and enhance the natural land as much as possible. Instead of a central clubhouse, the community has several smaller facilities tucked into the grounds with scenic trails and boardwalks to keep them connected. Known as Verandah’s River Village, this amenity complex includes the River House, the Tennis and Fitness Center, and the Golf House.

The Golf House welcomes resident golfers to challenging play on two championship 18-hole golf courses: The Old Orange, designed by golf architect Bob Cupp, and Whispering Oaks, designed by famed golfer Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II. These spectacular courses feature a tranquil setting as they wind throughout the community grounds. The Golf House also contains a golf pro shop and Blossom’s General Store.

Verandah’s River House is an inviting place to visit with friends or hold a special event. Residents can enjoy a casually elegant meal at Alligator Pear, a riverside restaurant, or relax at the Jesse Fish lounge. Just outside of the River House, the canoe and kayak launch provides river access, as well as a great spot for fishing.

When it comes to staying in shape, the Tennis and Fitness Center has residents covered. The exercise facility includes cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, as well as locker rooms and a fitness studio for group classes. Residents can stay active with the junior Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool and five Har-Tru tennis courts, and keep their pets active with the gated dog park. The Tennis and Fitness Center also includes a tennis pro shop and a day spa where residents can relax with massages, manicures and other spa treatments.
