main21

Located in a rural area of McCormick in South Carolina, Savannah Lakes Village is an attractive active lifestyle community that’s full of amenities, activities, and home designs situated within a tranquil and natural setting. The community is also popular among active adults thanks to its country club lifestyle combined with dozens of clubs and events that appeal to a variety of interests.

Homes

Savannah Lakes Village was opened in 1989 and will have 4,800 attached and single-family homes upon completion. The community is made up of new and resale homes spread throughout more than a dozen distinct neighborhoods, some of which offer scenic golf, lake, or forest views. Homes are priced starting at around $100,000, making it an affordable place to live.

Buyers can choose from attached or single-family homes that come in a wide selection of styles, sizes, and price points. Attached homes, which are often situated in duplex formations and include low-maintenance exteriors, range in size from approximately 1,200 to 2,400 square feet and feature two to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and attached garages. Homebuyers looking for more space and privacy can choose from a great selection of single-family homes or opt to build a custom home on select homesites. Homes range in size from about 1,900 to over 4,000 square feet and typically have two to five bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and attached garages.

Amenities

Homeowners pay an association fee that allows access to all of the resort-style amenities, golf courses, and recreational facilities throughout the development. A major appeal of this resort-style community is the world-class amenities and active lifestyle. Homeowners gain membership to the community-owned golf clubs, amenity centers, outdoor recreational facilities, as well as regularly scheduled activities and programs.

The central hub of physical activity and social recreation is found at the 23,000 square-foot Recreation Center. It includes multi-purpose rooms, a ballroom, and a fitness center complete with an aerobics studio and indoor pool. A bowling alley and outdoor pool are also a few of the amenities that keep residents active, healthy, and entertained. As longtime resident Janie Clark likes to put it, “Savannah Lakes people do like to party.”

There are also two 18-hole golf courses that have their own clubhouse, on-site restaurant, and golf practice facilities. In addition to great golf, residents also have 25 miles of shoreline along Lake Thurmond. This 71,000-acre lake is perfect for fishing, boating, kayaking, and other outdoor water sports. Outdoor enthusiasts can also enjoy the community’s abundant parks and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and walking. There are also multiple sports courts for tennis, pickleball, bocce ball, and horseshoes.

Resident Life

With so many great amenities found throughout Savannah Lakes Village, it’s easy to see how residents stay active and engaged. “I couldn’t believe how nice and friendly everybody was. We found people who like to do things,” said Clark.

Lana Stearns, another homeowner, also raves about the community’s welcoming environment. “We bought our home on a street that had nine or ten homes and those neighbors have been great to me. They made sure I didn’t need anything. I was invited to every holiday event, I went everywhere with them, they showed me around… I was able to meet so many people,” she said.

Activities

The long list of activities, clubs, classes, and events that are featured on Savannah Lake Village’s social calendar include almost every hobby imaginable. Residents can take art classes, aqua fitness, ladies’ tennis, or archery. They can also join the rod and gun club, pinochle club, green netters, discussion group, or outdoor adventurer’s club. The community also hosts fun events like ladies’ book club, pancake breakfasts, concerts, pool parties, tiki parties, camping, and day trips.

“There’s so much to do that we always say we need 36 hours in the day just to play. We can’t do it all but at least we try to do as much as we possibly can,” said Stearns. “If you’re a quilter, knitter, crocheter, or whatever your interests are, there is a group here for you.”

Location

Savannah Lakes Village is ideally situated in Central South Carolina and offers residents a recreation-inspired lakefront setting. The community is surrounded by acres of public parks, state forests, and waterways that bring a sense of Southern charm yet provides easy access to daily shopping, dining, and entertainment in the area. Its ideal location near the Georgia border allows homeowners to enjoy a variety of travel options that include regional and international airports as well as major roadways for getting around town quickly.

With a beautiful outdoor setting, amazing resort-style amenities, and a friendly social environment, it’s no surprise to see more active adults moving to Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC.
