Residents can partake in the community’s travel club, where they’ll have the opportunity to visit some of the many historical sites that lie nearby. This includes remnants of the Civil War, including the Malvera Hill Battlefield, which still houses a cannon dating back to the war, as well the Dabbs House Museum, which was originally the headquarters of Robert E. Lee back in 1862.
To go back even further in time, residents can also visit Henricus Historical Park, a living history museum that was originally an English settlement that dates all the way back to 1611. Inside, visitors can explore a number of Colonial buildings and learn about its rich history through the many costumed actors who provide a detailed examination of the settlements use and significance.
Sun City Summerlin – Las Vegas, NV

Located in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, Sun City Summerlin also provides its occupants with an extensive travel club. Throughout the year, the club provides its members with the opportunity to explore all that Las Vegas has to offer, including day trips to the iconic Las Vegas Strip, as well as the many resorts and casinos scattered throughout the city.
In addition to the many day trips that are offered, Sun City Summerlin’s travel club also plans for exotic trips abroad. One past example includes an overseas cruise and holiday vacation in and around Mexico. The Groves Golf and Country Club – Lane O’ Lakes, FL

The Groves Golf and Country Club’s travel club is one of the largest and most active groups of its community. Made up of over 300 members, the group has a meeting each month with the exception of June, July, and December. During the meetings, members can gather to hear about current trip offerings while meeting fellow travelers. There are multiple trips planned each month that vary between standard day trips, overnight trips, and extended trips both within the United States and abroad. Whatever your travel preference may be, it is a safe bet that The Groves Travel Club has something of interest.
Carillon – Plainfield, Illinois

Found in Plainfield, Illinois, Carillon is an active adult community whose travel club always has something planned for its residents. Each month, the club plans a variety of day trip excursions, with recent examples including a trip to see the broadway show, “The Producers” and to Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan. Almost every trip provides free transportation to and back, as well as a lunch. If interested, the travel club meeting are every month and are open to all residents of the community.
