Carillon Overview

Carillon in Plainfield, Illinois was the first 55+ active adult community in the Chicago area. This gated golf community is ideally situated one mile south of I-55 on Weber Road, making it an ideal community for easy commuting. Carillon started in 1989 and has now blossomed into an active community complete with nearly 2,100 homes, a spacious clubhouse, and countless amenities. Homebuyers can select from a variety of housing styles including condos, townhomes, coach homes, and single-family homes.

Carillon Amenities

Carillon offers some of the most thoughtfully designed amenities in an active adult community in Chicago's southwest suburbs. The Club Carillon is a 32,000-square-foot facility that boasts an enviable lineup of attractions designed around the preferences of today's active homebuyers. The clubhouse includes an indoor pool and spa as well as a fitness center with an aerobics and dance studio. There is also a spacious ballroom with a stage and dance floor that plays host to many community events, such as parties, dinners, dances, and theatrical productions. There is a card room, billiards hall, library, and several hobby and craft studios such as ceramics, woodworking, and arts and crafts.

The amenities continue outdoor as Club Carillon offers shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, bocce ball, and tennis courts. There are two outdoor pools including one that is reserved for residents and an additional pool available for guests. A three-mile walking and biking trail meanders through the community, connecting all of the 16 neighborhoods to the clubhouse. There are several scenic ponds including one that is stocked with fish.

The Links at Carillon is a 27-hole public golf course that winds through the community. The course includes a fully stocked pro shop and a full-service restaurant serving lunch and dinner menus.

Carillon Homes & Real Estate

Cenvil Homes and Cambridge Homes constructed Carillon between 1989 and 2001 with a total of 2,097 square feet. Homebuyers can select from over 30 different floor plans in Carillon available as condos, coach homes, townhomes, and single-family homes. The last home was completed in 2001 but there are a variety of resale homes for sale. The sole condo building in this community, known as Buckingham, is a four-story elevator building with underground parking. There are four floor plans in the Buckingham building that range from 835 to 1,380 square feet. There are both one and two-bedroom plans with one to two bathrooms and all units include a spacious balcony.

The attached homes of Carillon come in four collections: Coach Homes, Master Series Townhomes, Getaway Series Townhomes, and Cenvil Townhomes. The attached homes come in a variety of models ranging between 1,035 and 1,764 square feet. These homes offer two to three bedrooms, one to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached one- to two-car garages. Some homes also feature den spaces, basements, and patios. 

For buyers who prefer single-family home living, there are many different models to choose from. There are intimate 1,400 square foot plans all the way to 2,300 square foot homes. These homes offer two to three bedrooms, one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half bathrooms, and one- to two-car garages.  Most of the units are ranch style but a few of the models include a second floor with additional bedrooms. Basements are available in many single-family homes. Homeowners in the single-family neighborhoods enjoy low-maintenance living with associations that manage lawn care and snow removal.

Carillon Lifestyle

Members of the Carillon community enjoy a very active lifestyle. The homeowners’ association (HOA) of the master-planned community covers the maintenance of each neighborhood. The HOA covers common area maintenance and upkeep of the amenities. Townhome unit owners enjoy complete maintenance-free living with associations that manage all exterior building maintenance plus lawn care and snow removal.

Each month, the Talk of the Town newsletter alerts residents to all of the fun activities and happenings for that month. There are several dozen clubs and interest groups offered by the HOA including card clubs, golf groups, ceramics, Red Hatters, a travel club, and many more. Plainfield, IL Area

Carillon is located a half-mile south of I-55 on Weber Road, 35 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The community's proximity to I-55 allows for quick access to western suburbs such as Downers Grove and Oakbrook, and Naperville is 12 miles to the north. 

The community is also close to a variety of daily necessities. Grocery stores such as Fresh Thyme Market, Meijer, Jewel-Osco, and ALDI are all within 10 miles. Pharmacy needs can be met at Walgreens and CVS. 

Carillon is close to several health care providers, such as Weber Medical Center, Brookville Medical Center, and Edward-Elmhurst Health Center-Plainfield. 

When homeowners are looking for dining and entertainment options, they can travel along Joliet Road and State Route 30 which are both home to a variety of restaurants, shops, and bars. 

Nature lovers will be able to enjoy the many parks and greenspaces in the area, including Freedom Park, Riverview Park, as well as Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve. Golfers can tee off at courses like Bolingbrook Golf Club, Naperbrook Golf Course, and Mistwood Golf Club.

A common entrance leads to the the Plaza (A) and Fountainbleu (D) models on the first floor or the Concord (B) and Ritz (C) models on the second floor. Some buildings contain an elevator for second floor access. All units include a 1-car attached garage. Association fees include all lawn care, snow removal and exterior building maintenance. Coach Homes are located in the Bedford association in Carillon.

The Getaway series homes are arranged in 6-plex configurations arranged in a "U" shape. Each building contains two of each model. We have lived in Carillon almost five years and truly enjoy the safety, beauty and caring community. The HOA leadership is prudent, fees are fair, and amenities are diverse, inclusive and great for learning and socializing. Plenty of convenient shopping is nearby, too.

Carillon has the best clubhouse and amenities of any communities in the south west burbs. We've got indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, fitness room, ballroom, cards room, library, billiards, ceramics, wood working and a lot more. We have a broad range of home styles, sizes, and price points. The residents are very friendly and it's easy to meet people. We love living here.

There is so much to do in this community. Lots of activities and groups to join. Excellent place to live.

This neighborhood is 55+ and has a lot of different style homes. The community does a big loop with many small neighborhoods branching out around the golf course. The clubhouse is large and there is always something to do. I like the fact that Walgreens is right outside the entrance.

The variety of neighborhoods avoids the cookie cutter syndrome. Numerous styles of homes and floor plans to appeal to different needs. Better construction than any I've checked within a 30 mile radius. Guarded gate access a plus for security. Nearby emergency and medical services and businesses. Only negative is the heavy traffic access road.

We are one of the "Early Settlers" coming up on 20 years.
We were downsizing moving from a four bedroom raised ranch in Lisle IL. We found a floor plan we liked. 2bed room 2 full baths 1550 sq ft. No stairs (except for the half basement)My wife swims 5 days a week at the club house. I golf 3 days a week and dabble in water colors and wine making in the winter. Life is good

Carillon is a fabulous community. We visited relatives here for years and were not surprised to find that it was extremely attractive as we approached the target age for residence. We can be as active as we choose, taking advantage of the extensive variety of events and activities, or we can simply enjoy the privacy and beauty of the grounds. We are happy to be here.

Carillon is a great place to live. I searched several other 55+ communities in the Southwest suburbs before making a decision. Carillon offers some of the best value of any of these communities. The clubhouse is huge, the people are amazing and the location is right near I-55 so I can easily get to my grandchildren in Downers Grove.

I've made so many new friends here and I absolutely love it!
