Residents of The Villages who have dreamed of owning larger property space for a more rural vibe can now have that at Chatham Acres. Last month, The Villages released its new section called Chatham Acres, which is reserved for those 55 and older and offers homeowners five-acre parcels on SE Highway 42, adjacent to the First Baptist Church at The Villages. Chatham Acres will consist of seven homesites with parcels priced starting in the $500s.
These larger parcels of land within Chatham Acres are designed to attract residents who seek a more “farmer-type of lifestyle” that allows them to own horses or chickens contained within a coop. No other farm or large animals will be allowed. Homeowners are allowed to own up to four horses on their property and the association fee will be just over $6,000 per year. Homeowners will also have access to the amenities at The Villages and pay an annual amenity fee.
