Let's explore these large communities in the Sacramento area.

When it comes to finding a home in a 55+ community, it’s important to know that these communities can vary greatly. There are small, intimate communities with under a hundred homes, and there are large, sprawling communities boasting thousands of homes.

One of the greatest benefits of living in a large community is the vast amount of amenities typically offered. Communities with over 1000 homes usually have multiple clubhouses, pools, fitness centers, and unique offerings such as golf ranges, restaurants, and even transportation. Another benefit of living in a large community is that it offers lots of home sizes and price ranges. There are also plenty of neighbors to get to know and gatherings going on, so your social calendar is never empty.

If you’re looking for larger 55+ communities in Sacramento, you’ll want to check out the three following communities, all boasting more than 1000 homes.

The activities director makes it their duty to ensure a never-ending lineup of activities, events, trips, and classes to join on any given day. There are over 80 active clubs in the community, from astronomy and gardening to west coast swing and sewing, so residents are able to socialize, hone a hobby, or discover a new one. Organized trips to the area’s most exciting destinations are regularly planned, from wine tasting in Napa to sight-seeing in San Francisco. Stunning Lake Tahoe is only a little over an hour’s drive north. Closer to home, Downtown Sacramento offers plenty of museums, restaurants, theater, and shopping.

The real draw of this exciting community is the stellar lineup of amenities, including two luxurious lodges, 36-holes of championship golf, and an on-site restaurant and bar. Multiple indoor and outdoor pools entice residents to cool off and get some laps in, and a 15,000-square-foot ballroom allows for plenty of room to waltz. The Spa at Kilaga Springs offers residents massage therapy, nail care, and facial treatments, and the Meridians Restaurant and Bar serves elegant dinners and causal fare. The community also boasts 27 miles of fitness trails for walkers and bikers. These paved trails weave through open space and wetlands, creeks and rolling hills.
