There are over a dozen communities for active adults in Port St. Lucie, one of the Treasure Coast’s most desirable places to live. Nearly half of those neighborhoods are part of Tradition, a master-planned community that serves as a town for the residents and visitors who find themselves in this serene little enclave just off the Atlantic Ocean.

There’s a lot happening at Tradition, and plenty of opportunities for buyers interested in stellar housing and unique amenities.

Let’s take a look.

Tradition is Small Town America

When you arrive at Tradition, the local town square and close-knit community might remind you of the town you grew up in, but this town doesn’t have your high school or the drive-in and the roller skating rink. It does have plenty of shopping, however, and a lot of great restaurants.

You’ll find salons and spas, theaters, shops, and Tradition Field, the stadium where the New York Mets host their spring training games and practices. PGA Village is nearby and residents also have access to Traditional Medical Center, an award-winning healthcare facility.

Upcoming events at Tradition include the Chow Down Food Trucks, which gather at Tradition Square every other Friday. Catch the next one on February 15. There’s a free concert downtown on the last Wednesday of every month (don’t miss the next music event on February 27), and charity walks nearly every Saturday over the next few months.

Catching Up with the Tradition Communities

As a master-planned community, Tradition is a blend of 55+ developments and those without age restrictions. Many of these communities are still building.

Vitalia at Tradition

Low $200s – Mid $400s

Buyers can find both new and resale homes in Vitalia at Tradition, the first 55+ community within the Tradition complex. All of the amenities have been up and running for years, including The Captiva Club, the fitness center, and the pool and putting green. Residents are enjoying fire pits, the Lakeside pavilion, and all the parks and natural trails arranged around lakes and woods. A community of single-family homes, Vitalia offers floor plans in 10 different models.

The Estates at Tradition

 Mid $300s – Mid $400s

The Estates at Tradition is a small and intimate community with only 132 homes and no age restrictions. D.R. Horton is still building single-family properties, and at least 10 resale homes are available if you’re a buyer who doesn’t care to build. Laid-back living is still the norm in The Estates, with residents coming together for food truck events, themed parties, and the regular farmers market at the Tradition Town Square.

TownPark at Tradition

Low $200s – Mid $400s

TownPark at Tradition has been completed for more than two years, and residents in more than 1,000 homes are enjoying amenities such as shaded cabanas beside the pool, a luxury fitness center, a billiards parlor, and courts for bocce, tennis, pickleball, and basketball. This isn’t an age-restricted community, so families can frequently be found at the tot lot or the kids’ waterpark.

LakePark at Tradition

High $100s – High $200s

Minto Communities and Kennedy Homes began working on LakePark at Tradition in 2015, and more than a dozen resale homes are available for sale as well as new construction in more than 10 floor plans. The 644 properties at LakePark are affordable; many attached villas can be purchased for prices that begin in the $100s. Many of the amenities at this gated 55+ community are brand new, The Club at LakePark was completed last summer, ahead of schedule. If you’re thinking about buying at LakePark, consider taking advantage of Minto’s Stay and Play package.

Del Webb Tradition

 Mid $200s – Mid $400s

One of the newest additions to the master-planned community is Del Webb Tradition, a gated 55+ community that spans 205 perfectly landscaped acres. Here, construction continues on new single-family and attached homes that range in size from 1,579 to 2,589 square feet. The clubhouse is under construction, where residents will enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center, a dance studio, and the ever-popular pickleball courts.

Valencia Cay at Riverland

Mid $200s – High $400s

14 model homes were unveiled last August, at the grand opening of Valencia Cay at Riverland, the latest 55+ community to find land in Tradition. The resort-style amenities will leave residents feeling like they’re on a perpetual vacation and the planned Sports & Racquet Club will include tennis courts, bocce ball courts, and pickleball. There’s also a fitness center under construction and the 34,000-square-foot Club at Valencia Cay.
