Real estate in Palm Beach County, Broward County, and the Fort Lauderdale area is available in many price ranges, sizes, and styles. Buyers looking for something under $300,000 will have no trouble finding a condo or single-family home in some of the most desirable 55+ communities in the area.

The Palms at WestonWeston, FL

Mid $200s – Low $400s

For a luxury low-maintenance lifestyle, consider the condos and attached homes at The Palms at Weston. This 55+ community has 382 homes and an active social calendar.

Residents can enjoy line dancing, happy hours, and breakfast gatherings. There’s also a book club, a bowling club, and lots of fitness classes for residents who enjoy yoga, Zumba, and water aerobics. Community amenities include a fitness center with an aerobics and dance studio, a beauty salon, a library, and an outdoor pool. The Palace at Home Health Agency is also on-site, offering support and resources to residents.

Condo homes come in seven resale models, ranging from 868 to 1,881 square feet. They have one or two bedrooms and one to two-and-a-half bathrooms. Most models have an extra room that can be used as a den or office. Attached villas are large, with 2,400 square feet, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Delray Beach is a fun place for beach activities, shopping, and seafood. One of the area’s more popular 55+ communities is Floral Lakes, which offers low-maintenance living in attached villas.

At Floral Lakes, residents have many opportunities to participate in the socials and events planned by the full-time activities director. There’s a creative writing club, discussion groups, and a singing group. Unique amenities include a miniature golf course, horseshoes, and table tennis. There’s also a media room, a fitness center, and a couple of outdoor pools.

Three floor plans are available for purchase. The Iris has 1,400 square feet, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached one-car garage. The Orchid and the Jasmine are a bit larger, with 1,574 and 1,640 square feet respectively, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a den, and an attached two-car garage. All homes have upgrades like hurricane shutters and screened patios.

The CascadesBoynton Beach, FL

High $200s – Mid $400s

The Cascades is a 55+ community in Boynton Beach, and there are plenty of resale single-family homes available to buyers who want to spend less than $300k. These homes offer 1,760 to 2,483 square feet, two or three bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

All homes have attached two-car garages, and some of them include features like a den or a half bathroom. Open floor plans, low-maintenance landscaping, and plenty of outdoor space make these homes excellent choices for buyers who want to downsize into a manageable space without giving up the privacy of a single-family home.

At The Cascades, amenities include a 24,000-square-foot clubhouse and a fitness center. Also, the beach is only a few minutes away, and the airport can be reached in half an hour.

At Baywinds, there are plenty of attached villas and single-family homes in a well-landscaped, low-maintenance 55+ community close to the beach and all the art, culture, and activity that West Palm is known for.

More than a dozen models are available with two to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Many models have dens, attached one- or two-car garages, and views of community lakes. Homes are between 1,206 and 2,567 square feet.

Club Baywinds is a 7,000-square-foot amenity space with a fitness center, a sauna, a library, and a media room. There’s also a space for billiards, cards, aerobics, crafts, and movies. Several pools are available to residents: a resort-style pool for swimming and sunbathing, a lap pool, and a resistance pool that’s great for walking and strength training. Tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, and bocce ball courts can also be found, and residents can fish in the lake.

The modern condos in Coral Ridge Towers offer 500 to 1,400 square feet. Floor plans offer studios as well as one-, two-, or three-bedroom layouts with one or two bathrooms. Residents have their own balconies with views of the Intracoastal Waterway or the Atlantic Ocean.

Each building has its own set of amenities. Residents can enjoy community rooms, card rooms, libraries, exercise rooms, and bike storage as well as four heated outdoor pools, shuffleboard courts, a putting green, and bocce ball courts. Several walking and biking trails can be found throughout the community, and there’s access to the Intracoastal Waterway. Also, the community is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.
