Tampa and the surrounding Bay-area communities make a great base for active adults who like to explore. When your idea of a perfect Florida retirement is to hit the open road as often as possible, you need to find a home that has a place to park your recreational vehicle.

These 55+ communities in Tampa have a lot going for them. They’re well-located, popular, and spacious. But when we say spacious, we’re not just talking about the homes. We also mean the parking. Check out these communities if you’re looking for a place to park yourself and your RV.

The Groves Golf and Country ClubLand O’Lakes

Mid $100s – High $200s

Just north of Downtown Tampa is the suburban oasis of Land O’Lakes, where active adults can find golf, social activities, and RV parking at The Groves Golf and Country Club. The 18-hole golf course designed by Gary Koch is a major draw, and residents can choose from several membership levels and even opt for equity club ownership. There’s a pro shop, an aquatic driving range, and a putting green as well. It’s a golfer’s paradise, but you don’t have to golf to appreciate the setting and the amenities. There are also tennis, pickleball, and bocce ball courts as well as a pool. The Civic Center Clubhouse is 15,000 square feet and includes a fitness center and a library.

Several builders contributed to this 55+ community, providing buyers with several options when it comes to models and floor plans. Attached homes require almost no maintenance from homeowners, an ideal option for buyers who have plans to travel frequently. Homes for sale are 1,034 to 1,438 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Some of the homes also have a den as well as an attached garage. The single-family homes are available as patio homes or estate homes, with 20 floor plans ranging from 1,509 to 2,552 square feet.

Valencia LakesWimauma 

Low $200s – Mid $600s

New and resale homes can be found at Valencia Lakes, a 55+ community just south of Tampa and close to Sun City Center. This waterfront community offers attached and single-family homes along with a lot of parking—not just for cars but for boats and RVs as well.

For buyers who want resort-style amenities and social gatherings, there’s a variety of things to do. Residents can enjoy the community gardens, walking trails, dog parks, tot lots for the visiting grandkids, and the sprawling clubhouse with a modern fitness center, a restaurant, and an internet cafe. For homeowners looking to stay active, there’s pickleball, basketball, horseshoes, tennis, and shuffleboard. Homeowmers can also take a dip in the relaxing resort-style pool or the challenging resistance pool.

Homes for sale are comfortable, spacious, and low-maintenance. The villas are set up as side-by-side duplexes with 1,321 to 1,857 square feet, one and three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. There are 10 models, and many of them have dens or office space. Single-family properties are as large as 3,273 square feet. Most of them are more modestly sized with two or three bedrooms and two or three bathrooms. Walk-in closets, extra half-bathrooms, and open floor plans are available in some homes.

Heritage SpringsTrinity

For a special location close to the beach and on a golf course, buyers might find everything they want at Heritage Springs in Trinity. It’s close to Tampa, St. Petersburg, scenic beaches, hiking trails, and shopping. The community is also equipped to allow residents to park their RVs and boats. Buyers can choose from a variety of homes for sale with attached villa or a single-family homes. These homes have two or three bedrooms, den space, two or three bathrooms, and one- or two-car attached garages.

The clubhouse includes a restaurant and bar called as well as a fitness center, activity rooms, and a library. There’s also a computer lab, a woodworking shop, a sewing studio, shuffleboard, bocce ball, and a pool. Residents enjoy the parks, walking trails, and gazebos with picturesque views of the ponds.

The most sought-after amenity, however, is the golf course. Memberships are available at the Heritage Springs Country Club, and there’s also a pro shop. Men and women have separate golf leagues, and residents frequently get together for brunch, line dancing, foreign language classes, and parties. Bird lovers will appreciate that there’s an Audubon chapter within Heritage Springs.

Key Vista VillasHoliday

Mid $200s – Low $300s

Inside the master-planned community of Key Vista is the cozy and intimate 55+ community of Key Vista Villas. It’s a residential neighborhood of only 170 single-family homes. These homes for sale have 1,300 to 1,800 square feet, two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Formal dining rooms, large master suites, and screened lanais are standard with all of these resale models.

Amenities include RV parking, a sand volleyball court, tennis courts, and a pool and whirlpool spa. There’s also a clubhouse with a fitness center, a library, a game room, and space for billiards and table tennis. There’s a welcoming committee for new residents, and neighbors enjoy bingo, yoga classes, holiday parties, and seasonal events.

SilverthornBrooksville

Low $100s – Mid $400s

Silverthorn in Brooksville has an RV parking lot with walls and security, which means residents can rest easy when they’re staying in one place for a while. This active adult community doesn’t have age restrictions, and buyers can choose an attached or single-family resale home in the woodsy, nature-filled golf course community.

Hikers and bikers will appreciate that the trails within the gated community offer direct access to Florida’s Suncoast Trail system. There’s also an 18-hole golf course designed by Joe Lee available to residents and their guests. There’s a pool, a pavilion, horseshoes, tennis, and a picnic area. Residents can often be found at the community center gathering for book club or bridge lessons.

Attached villas at Silverthorn offer 1,000 to 2,000 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and attached two-car garages. Buyers can also select a single-family property with 2,060 to 3,690 square feet for sale. These homes have two to four bedrooms, two or three bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages.
