If you’re a keen golfer and you also want to live in Northern Arizona, there are several excellent golf communities to choose from. Of the communities featured below, one is restricted to 55+ homeowners while the others have no age restrictions. The community sizes range from over 1,000 homes to under 100, and prices start in the low $200s and go right up to the low $4Ms.

In descending order of size, here are the best Northern Arizona golf communities.

1. Prescott LakesPrescott, AZ

Low $300s – Low $3Ms

This community is in an attractive place with scenic lakes and several miles of hiking and biking trails.

Prescott Lakes is one of the best communities for golf in Northern Arizona as it includes The Club at Prescott Lakes golf club. It’s a gated active adult community with no age restrictions and 1,300 condo, attached, and single-family homes.

The community is in an area that’s also known as Prescott Lakes, an attractive place with scenic lakes and several miles of hiking and biking trails. The community is just a few minutes from the nearest lakes and about a 15-minute drive from the center of Prescott, an old mining town that’s filled with historic buildings and bars. The town also has numerous art galleries and restaurants that cater to the many visitors drawn to this charming area.

The Prescott Lakes Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole course that has a pro shop as well as a bar and grille. Other community amenities include a dining room, an arts and crafts studio, a library, and a hobby and games room. Residents at Prescott Lakes also enjoy the use of the Prescott Lakes Athletic Club. This has a 12,000-square-foot fitness center, an aerobics studio, indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool spa, and courts for tennis, basketball, and sand volleyball.

There are numerous models available in this golfing community, starting at about 1,200 square feet. The largest models are 3,080 square feet, and depending on the configuration, these offer three to six bedrooms, three to four bathrooms, and a two- or three-car garage. Current homes for sale range from the low $400s to $1.6 million.

2. Talking RockPrescott, AZ

Mid $400s – Mid $2Ms

This community has an 18-hole course, a putting green, a chipping area, and a practice facility. 

Talking Rock is an active adult golfing community with no age restriction and 611 single-family homes. It’s surrounded by open wooded land, and it’s about a 30-minute drive north of Downtown Prescott, which is where the nearest main shops, restaurants, banks, and other facilities are. The community itself does have Coop’s—a coffee shop, gathering place, and convenience store.

The community has the on-site Jay Morris Golf Course, with 18 holes, a putting green, a chipping area, and a practice facility. Other amenities include a bar and grill, a spa, an outdoor pool, hiking and biking trails, and courts for tennis, basketball, bocce, and shuffleboard. There are also hiking and biking trails, and a community garden.

Models here are generously sized. The smallest offer 1,960 square feet with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The largest homes come in two 2,879-square-foot floor plans. One model has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and a two-car garage, while the second model has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a four-car garage. Incidentally, if you’re a music fan, these models have names such as the Cash, the Raitt, and the Van Zandt. Current homes for sale offer prices from the high $700s to $2.5 million.

3. Dorado at Verde Santa FeCornville, AZ

Dorado at Verde Santa Fe is a gated community of 96 single-family homes for the 55+ active adult. It’s in Cornville, a small town of just over 3,000 people in Red Rock Country, a 25-minute drive from downtown Sedona. Sedona is an extremely popular tourist destination with a very artsy-chic feel to it.

Residents here have access to the adjacent Verde Santa Fe Clubhouse which provides an 18-hole golf course as well as a fitness center, an outdoor pool and spa, a restaurant, hiking and biking trails, and a library. A couple of minutes away is the Amante Clubhouse which provides residents with another outdoor pool and spa, a second library, a second fitness center, and other amenities.

There are six models available. The smallest has 1,302 square feet with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The largest has 2,125 square feet with two to three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a two-car garage.
