One of the most popular Florida retirement destinations is Palm Beach County, where there’s a variety of South Florida real estate stretching from condos in Tequesta to single-family homes in Boca Raton. There’s plenty to draw people to this part of the country, from beaches to golf to shopping and fine dining. It’s easy to hop on a cruise ship or explore the rest of the state.

Buyers looking for affordable retirement communities in Florida have a number of 55+ neighborhoods to choose from in Palm Beach County.

The Pines of Delray - Delray Beach

Below $100k - High $100s

With two clubhouses and a volunteer social committee, residents at The Pines of Delray know that they’ve found something special.

This gated 55+ community offers affordable Delray Beach real estate and a strong sense of community. There are two clubhouses in the north and south ends of the neighborhood, and each of them has a pool, patio, and multi-purpose or game rooms. The North Clubhouse includes bocce ball courts and in the South Clubhouse, there’s shuffleboard and a fitness center. There’s also tennis and a game room.

Attached villas and condos make up this 684-unit community, and each home has between one and three bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, and features like open floor plans, eat-in kitchens, and screened porches. Models range from 812 to 1,600 square feet.

Delray Beach has a lot of affordable things to do, including walking the beach and visiting the Pineapple Grove Arts District downtown, where there are murals, street art, galleries, and cafes.

Colonial Club - Boynton Beach

It’s possible to find affordable Palm Beach real estate along the Intracoastal Waterway, especially for buyers interested in condo living at Colonial Club. This 55+ community in Boynton Beach is just a few minutes from beaches and golf courses.

Condos are between 950 and 1,200 square feet, and they have one or two bedrooms and large kitchens with built-in shelving and pantries. The 504 resale condos are spread out between 18 three-story buildings, and all of them have elevators. Buyers can choose a home with a view of the garden, the water, or a nearby golf course.

There’s a grilling area outside, as well as a patio and a heated pool. Residents play shuffleboard and take long walks around the well-located community.

Century Village at West Palm Beach

Residents can easily stay busy at Century Village at West Palm Beach. Residents who want to get out to town for shopping, dining, or entertainment can leave their cars at home and take the community transit that’s provided.

Century Village at West Palm Beach is home to a 92,000 square-foot clubhouse with a fitness center, a dance studio, and an indoor resistance pool. There are meeting rooms, party rooms, computers, and a sewing studio. The community also has pools, a performance stage, shuffleboard, tennis, and a library.

Poinciana - Lake Worth

Golf course living doesn’t have to be expensive. At Poinciana in Lake Worth, residents at this 55+ community can pay when they play at the on-site golf course, keeping HOA fees lower than at other golf course communities.

In addition to the 18 holes of golf, active adults enjoy the eight outdoor pools, four tennis courts, shuffleboard, bocce ball, and events at the multi-purpose rooms in the clubhouse. Mel’s Way Bistro in the clubhouse has food and live entertainment several nights a week.

The community has seven condo buildings with homes ranging from 1,222 to 1,663 square feet. There are also attached villas and single-family homes available, and they have between 1,500 and 2,100 square feet.

Lots of golf, fishing, and beach fun can be found in Lake Worth, just minutes from Poinciana. The Lake Worth Fishing Pier stays open for night fishing, and residents who appreciate nature and wildlife will enjoy an easy hike at nearby John Prince Park or Bryant Park, where there’s a trail leading to a pier on the water.

Whisper Walk - Boca Raton

There are 2,637 attached villa homes, and all of them have between 1,000 and 1,667 square feet with two or three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One-car garages are included, and most of the resale properties have modern upgrades and customized finishes.

The amenities at Whisper Walk are perfect for active residents who enjoy things like shuffleboard, pickleball, and handball. There’s also tennis and eight outdoor pools and patios. Some of the pools also have spas, and five clubhouses are spread out around the community’s sprawling acreage. There is a fitness center and multi-purpose rooms.

Outside of the community, Whisper Walk residents are close to grocery stores, retail centers, and other conveniences. It’s an easy drive to Boca Raton Museum of Art, where tax-deductible memberships are available, and The Wick Theatre and Costume Museum.
