Mountain Meadows is a 55+ community in scenic Ashland, Oregon, close to the campus of Southern Oregon University. There is a library and a communal dining room as well as meeting rooms such as the Rogue Room and the Jefferson Room where clubs often gather. The Mt. Ashland Room has a podium for lectures and presentations. Residents can enjoy cozy evenings in the fireside lounge and a woodshop includes tools and space for new creations and projects-in-progress. 

Outside, residents can enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood and relax in Madeline Hill Park or Upper Park, where autumn brings views of changing leaves. There’s also the opportunity to grow their own food, the Kitchen Creek Community Garden allows residents the thrill of growing plants and vegetables.

Mountain Meadows Homes & Real Estate

Mountain Meadow is a resident-owned 55+ community that was started in 1989 by Madeleine Hill, a local champion of social services who wanted to create a community for active adults where they could feel safe, happy, and engaged socially, physically, and intellectually. There are 225 single-family and attached homes as well as condos. 

Resale properties are available with between one and three bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. Many homes have attached two-car garages, bonus rooms that can be used for dens or offices, and outdoor patios and porches or balconies. They range from 736 to 1,889 square feet. Buyers can choose a home with hardwood flooring or tile, and other special features like granite counters, low-step showers, greenhouse windows, and extra storage. 

Mountain Meadows Lifestyle

Homeowners at Mountain Meadows spend their time participating in dozens of activities that are available to them. Community clubs include the bike group, chorus, poetry group, and table tennis. Concerts and cabarets are presented several times a month, and there is also a travel club. Monthly game nights are popular, and the weekly Friday Forums feature local experts in the Ashland community covering a specific topic. Exercise classes are frequently held in the fitness center and the pool.  

Surrounding Area 

Mountain Meadows is located in Ashland which has been named one of the best towns for retirement. It’s location in southern Oregon, in the Rogue Valley, against the backdrop of mountains and hillsides makes for ideallic place to live. Residents are in the middle of a thriving and culturally active town, and they’re in easy reach of daily needs and fun opportunities. 

Residents of Mountain Meadows are close to grocery stores like Safeway and the Ashland Food Co-op. Ashland Drug and Rite-Aid are pharmacies in the area, and it’s easy for residents to find branches of banks like Wells Fargo, Chase, and People’s Bank of Commerce. 

Local restaurants are in the neighborhood, and some of the most popular eating places include Beasy’s on the Creek and Pie & Vine. The Ashland Shopping Center is close to Highway 99, and Paddington Station is also a fun place to shop. For entertainment, there are frequent film festivals and concerts happening throughout Ashland. 

Mountain Meadows residents who want to get outside will find plenty of options close by. Golfers will find multiple courses to play in the area, including Oak Knoll Golf Course and Centennial Golf Club. There are also multiple parks and trails to choose from, including Lithia Park and North Mountain Park. 

Mountain Meadows is also close to multiple health care providers, including Ashland Community Hospital, Providence Medford Medical Center, and Rogue Valley Medical Center. The Surgery Center of Southern Oregon and the Three Rivers Community Hospital & Health Center are also close.  

Ashland is surrounded by national forests and outdoor recreational areas. It’s also a short trip to major cities such as Eugene and Portland, which can be reached in two to four hours. For longer trips, Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport is less than half an hour away from Mountain Meadows.
