If you’re looking for Fort Myers homes for sale, consider this active adult community. Here are seven things you need to know about Pelican Preserve.

1. There’s a Golf Course

The Pelican Preserve Golf Club offers residents 27 holes of championship golf designed by Chip Powell. The fairways are unique, with water elements, sand, and grass hollows all nestled into a natural setting. For golfers and residents interested in environmental and wildlife sustainability, there’s good news. This is one of the first Florida golf courses to receive the Audubon International Gold Signature Certification.

The golf club has its own clubhouse, where members and their guests can enjoy a fitness center, spa treatments, and dining. There’s a pro shop as well.

2. It Wasn’t Always Called Pelican Preserve

Things change—even names. Before it was known as Pelican Preserve, this community was under construction in 2001 with the name Sun City Fort Myers. It was changed to Pelican Preserve in 2003.

3. Nature Is Important at Pelican Preserve

Many communities are making their homes more efficient and environmentally friendly these days, but this neighborhood was doing that before it was cool. Pelican Preserve earned a Gold Seal of Sustainability from Audubon International’s Sustainable Development Program.

4. Homes for Sale Are Diverse

Available properties at Pelican Preserve range from new construction to resale homes. Buyers can choose a low-maintenance condo home, a modest villa, or a sprawling estate home with over 3,000 square feet. Condos, carriage homes, attached villas, and single-family homes range from 1,229 to 3,093 square feet and have two to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and an attached two- or three-car garage.

There are open floor plans in many of the models, views of the preserve from the mid-rise condo buildings, and plenty of opportunities to personalize and customize each resident’s own space. Prices range from the mid $100s to the high $500s. By the time construction is complete, the community will have 2,500 homes.

5. Amenities Are Pretty Awesome

Homebuyers hoping to remain socially engaged and physically active will have ample opportunities at Pelican Preserve. Amenities start at the Plaza del Sol Clubhouse, which is 70,000 square feet of space designed for community and connection. There’s a fitness center with locker rooms as well as a sauna and steam room. The Soleil Spa is a great place to book a massage. There’s a dance studio, a computer room, and a 100-seat movie theater.

For fitness, residents can use the indoor lap pool or the indoor track. There’s also pickleball, basketball, and tennis outside. A volleyball court is available as well as lawn bowling, a softball field, and a resort-style outdoor pool. Flip Flops Juice Bar is on-site and Destinations Restaurant is a popular spot for dinners and lunch.

A full-time activity director helps residents plan club meetings, social events, and parties. There are also amenity managers to help homeowners make the most of their community.

6. Clubs Are Popular With Residents

7. Spring Training Baseball Is Minutes Away

Fort Myers has two major league baseball teams in town during the spring training season. The Minnesota Twins can be found at CenturyLink Stadium and the Boston Red Sox train at JetBlue Park. It’s easy to catch a game or watch a workout as both stadiums are less than half an hour from Pelican Preserve.
