One of the best areas for active adults in Florida is Broward County. It’s just north of Miami and all of the city’s culture, history, and dazzling nightlife. The beach and Everglades National Park are also nearby. To the west, residents can easily access Big Cypress National Preserve, and Palm Beach is just minutes away due north.

Homebuyers looking for comfortable 55 and over communities in Broward County that won’t break your budget should consider these low-priced neighborhoods in the area.

1. Lime BayTamarac, FL

Below $100k – Mid $100s

Condo living is a great way to stay on budget and enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle. The units at Lime Bay are in three-story buildings with elevator access. Living space typically measures between 700 and 1,200 square feet, and these floor plans offer one or two bedrooms. Some units also include upgrades like hardwood floors, balconies, and views of lakes and walking trails.

Amenities include a fitness center, an outdoor pool and patio, shuffleboard courts, tennis courts, and plenty of picnic areas, parks, and outdoor space. Residents at this 55+ community enjoy fitness classes, bingo nights, and other community events such as BBQs and concerts.

Buyers can choose an 800-square-foot one-bedroom home or a two-bedroom home ranging up to 1,200 square feet. The neighborhood is comprised of multi-level buildings, and many units have upgrades like stainless steel appliances and spacious master suites.

The homeowners’ association (HOA) fee is reasonable and includes outdoor maintenance and landscaping as well as trash removal and access to amenities. These include three clubhouses, three pools, shuffleboard courts, a garden and patio, and several exercise rooms. Residents can also enjoy seasonal parties and other social events including picnics and card games.
