    Plantation is a city located in Broward County, Florida, just west of Fort Lauderdale. The city is home to plenty of scenery and a quaint downtown area, as well as the Midtown District, both with daily necessities and options for fun.

    Climate and Geography

    Located in Southeastern Florida, residents can expect to experience hot, humid summers and mild winters. Plantation also gets more sunny days a year than the national average. 

    Much like other cities in Florida, Plantation has plenty of scenery and greenspaces, which gives way to many lakes and forests preserves, as well as golf courses. For the most part, Plantation is built on prairieland.

    Residents looking to get outside have plenty of options to do so in Plantation. The city is home to a number of forests preserves and lakes including Plantation Preserve Linear Trail and Heritage Park. 

    One of the most popular landmarks of the city is Central Park Multi-Purpose and Plantation Aquatic Complex which is home to many facilities including a pool, game rooms, tennis, and many more. Residents can also find different golf courses around the city. 

    Plantation has many farmers markets, antique shops, and historical museums. 

    Cost of Living & Taxes

    The cost of living in Plantation is higher than state and national averages. This can be due to the median home cost which is higher when compared nationwide. 

    Florida is known as one of the most tax-friendly states in the nation. There is no tax on retirement income and Social Security, and there are also several tax breaks for residents 65 and older, especially for homeowners. 

    Florida has a statewide sales tax of 6 percent and Plantation does add a 1 percent tax onto that rate.

    Plantation is home to two major hospitals and medical centers. They are Westside Regional Medical Center and Plantation General Hospital, each of which are high ranking in two procedures by U.S News.
