For many active adults, golf is a must-have when it comes to finding the right 55+ community. Luckily, there are many communities in Georgia that meet that need. And though they all have more to offer in the way of maintaining an active lifestyle—such as state-of-the-art exercise centers, multiple swimming pools, and spas—golf, by far, is one of the most popular essentials folks look for when researching active adult communities.

We’ve highlighted our favorite golf-centric communities in Georgia below.

The Landings on Skidaway Island – Savannah

Low $200s – Low $2Ms

Located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Savannah, The Landings on Skidaway Island is a golfer’s paradise, offering six golf courses in the 4,596-acre-community. Residents also have more than 100 clubs, activities, and groups that they can join for the ultimate social lifestyle. Among the seven neighborhoods that make up The Landings on Skidaway Island, four of them feature golf courses, with two of the neighborhoods—Marshwood and Plantation—featuring two courses each.

The Landings has 4,422 homes and homebuyers can choose from attached homes and single-family residences. All homesites come with different types of views like wooded, golf course, river, marsh, island and waterfront views. Attached homes are either one or two-story residences that range from approximately 1,700 to just over 2,000 square feet. They have two to four bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and a one-car garage or carport space.

There are a variety of single-family residences within The Landings on Skidaway Island. The majority of the community consists of single-family homes that range from approximately 1,500 to almost 5,000 square feet. Homes have two to five bedrooms, two to six bathrooms, and two-car garages.

Although membership is optional, it is required to access the amenities. There are different levels of membership options for residents to choose from that range from a full membership, which includes all golf courses, clubhouse amenities, and social activities to a house membership that only includes access to clubhouse restaurants, the Marshwood pool, and social events.

Sun City Peachtree – Griffin

Sun City Peachtree is a magnificent Del Webb community near Atlanta in Griffin. This 3,387 home community includes a clubhouse, 18-hole golf course, and a renowned lifestyle. And about that golf course…the Club Corp Sun City Peachtree Golf Club was designed by Gary Stephenson and is an 18-hole, par-72 course featuring elevated tees and generous landing areas. The 6,822-yard course includes five sets of tees, making it playable for golfers of all skill levels. A small entry fee and minimal monthly dues make joining the Sun City Peachtree Golf Club a logical choice for serious golfers.

Sun City Peachtree is spread across 1,700 acres of lush pine forests and rolling hills. The amenities here feature Club Peachtree, the community’s fabulous amenity center that opened in early 2009 and is 45,000 square feet. It hosts an abundance of amenities and clubs tailored around the needs of today’s active adults. It includes a state-of-the-art fitness center that has the latest high-end cardiovascular and weight-training equipment.

The fitness center is surrounded by an indoor walking track and is adjacent to an aerobics and dance studio as well as an indoor lap pool. There is also a variety of arts and craft studios, a billiards room, card room, library, computer lab, and a ballroom. A large sundeck overlooks an outdoor resort-style pool and spa that features a separate area for lap swimming. Club Peachtree also includes other desirable amenities such as a 146-seat movie theater with a stage.

Sun City Peachtree has more than 3,300 homes. Homebuyers can choose from both new construction homes and a growing assortment of pre-owned resale homes. Homebuyers can select from a variety of single-family ranch floor plans that range in size from 1,103 to 2,722 square feet.

All homes feature one to four bedrooms, one-and-a-half to three bathrooms, and an attached two-to-two-and-a-half-car garage. The larger floor plans offer unfinished basements and loft options with additional bedrooms and bathrooms. Many of the homesites available now include scenic views of the golf course, mature trees, or open space.

Brookstone Manor – Acworth

Brookstone Manor is a 55+ community in Acworth, Georgia. Brookstone Manor is ideally located within the master-planned community of Brookstone Golf & Country Club. Homebuyers in Brookstone Manor can enjoy a low-maintenance home as well as a convenient location in Cobb County with easy access to Highway 41, I-75 and Kennesaw and Acworth.

Homeowners can purchase a membership to access the facilities at the Brookstone Golf & Country Club, including its 18-hole Larry Nelson golf course, made for lovers of all skill levels. Residents can also utilize the various golf practice facilities like a full driving range, putting green, and two chipping areas with a practice bunker.

The clubhouse, designed to resemble a Georgian country estate, features a fitness center with cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. The locker rooms have card tables so residents can play a quick game of poker before leaving the clubhouse. A members-only bar and grill offer delicious meals where residents can grab a bite to eat while enjoying views of the golf course.

Homeowners can also purchase the latest gear at the golf and tennis pro shop before a tournament. The complex also features an adult-only pool and a junior Olympic-sized pool, a beautiful patio, and eight lighted tennis courts, among other amenities.

Brookstone Manor has 56 well-crafted attached homes that feature ranch-style designs as well as brick and concrete siding exteriors. Homebuyers can choose from four different floor plans, which range from 1,605 to 1,930 square feet of living space and offer two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached two-car garage. Some models feature a second-floor storage area that’s convenient when extra space is required.

Cadence – Canton

Mid $400s – High $400s

Cadence is a gated, active adult community in Canton that features stylish, ranch floor plans with main-level living with first-floor master bedrooms. Cadence homeowners can become members at Woodmont Golf and Country Club for a small fee, where the only golf course in Georgia designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. is located. This semi-private 18-hole course has white sand bunkers, impressive views, and an exceptional PGA staff. The 72-par layout provides an enjoyable yet challenging experience for golfers of all skills.

Woodmont offers more than just golf, however. Whether competitively or just for fun, tennis is also a big part of Woodmont. Residents of Cadence can participate in lessons and clinics with tennis pros. The Racquet Club has active ALTA teams, which play on 10 hard surface and clay courts.

The private clubhouse at Cadence was designed to function equally as a fitness, activity and social hub. The club’s community room and gourmet kitchen are ideal for hosting family or neighborhood events. Residents can stay healthy and fit by working out at the fitness center, swimming in the private pool, or taking strolls along the walking trails and around the two-acre private lake.
